I want to go as England/Britain from Hetalia to a con, but no-one I know cosplays and I don't really want to go by myself. I can't ask my friends if they cosplay....well because they don't and if they found out I did I'd be labeled as a fag.

As for cons, Hyper Japan next weekend. London MCM Expo every May and October. London Film and Comic Con sometime in the summer I think. There's more but that's the main ones I go to.

We also have Paris Manga (50,000 attendees twice a year), Japan Expo Centre, Japan Expo Sud, Japan Expo Belgium and Epitanime. That's quite a lot to deal with when you're bringing a new costume to each con!

We have loads of cons and regular meetups. Being part of both the cosplay and lolita communities means that there's always something to do

In my opinion, German and Italian have the best eurocosplayers, good cosplays and a few drama. Spain and France have really good ones too, but the community sucks.

Been to one anime con and one sci-fi con. The anime one was painful. Shitty cosplays, everyone was super awkward and there were zero activities.
The sci-fi con was kinda nice, but in two hours I had seen everything worth seeing.

Netherlands, here. Cons suck fucking balls because the only panels they have are all about sucking Nippon cock rather than actually being about Anime (or hell, even cosplay). I'm not going to an Anime convention to learn how to sip tea.

The only thing that makes it worthwhile are the people that visit. Find a location to put them all in, throw in some food and you'll have a better atmosphere than all conventions combined.

2011's Romics disappointed me a bit on the cosplay level ( too many douchebags doing memes and ASDF movie cosplays...if they can be called "cosplays")
I would have loved to cosplay tomorrow but I've been too lazy with my costume so it's yet another cosplay chance gone to waste (not to mention that I could be very easily mistaken for weaboo)

I'll be there on Friday afternoon to stroll about and see what's new for this year.

my observation on connichi the last few years was that german cosplayers are as a whole getting better. doesn't mean that there still are some ugly as fuck weeaboos or just fail cosplayers. however the quality overall seems on a good way.
