I love to go to gatherings because it's a chance to meet other fans. The fact that you get pictures is a bonus. I'll never forget the Valve gathering at AX 2010, it was absolutely massive and I had a blast.

Best was the AN2011 Persona shoot. it was the biggest i've seen, with so many great cosplayers.

Worst was the Hetalia shoot at Anime North 2011. I had people asking who I was cosplaying and claiming "fanart wasnt allowed" despite it being official, and then a Prussia tackled me and kept trying to kiss me for "fanservice photos." Never again.

Yup! I try to go to ones that I'm cosplaying from, a series that I like and then ones my friends are in.

Both. If I'm going to be in it, I'll usually get a friend to take photos for me, and when I'm not in a photo I'll take pictures for the people there. If my friends are in them or its just one I feel like checking out I take photos.

Worst was the first AA gathering at Otakon 2010. It was sort of a mess...the person running it didn't really know what they were doing. I kind of just tuned it out and hung out with friends.
Best...The AssCreed Gathering at AnimeNext was really nice, a lot of really nice costumes and cool people!

I went to a HS one, and it was a lot of fun, but hard to get everyone to stay still long enough for photo.

I stopped going to them since they're filled with derps.

Some DC shoots and Steampunk shoot last year.

And my costumer ALWAYS sets me up with at least three photoshoots per con.

Sometimes I get pics from it, mostly I have to look online for them.

This was my favorite experience for obvious reasons.

Sometimes I go and take pictures, but I usually sit out of actually posing. I have a little bit of social anxiety, so I don't like to be around that many people unless I'm a photographer, in which case no one tries to touch me at least.

I don't usually go to shoots because I'm getting more and more tired of cosplaying. I did, however, have a really good shoot with Powergirl and Matt this weekend. We'll see how it turns out.

I try and attend gatherings at every con I go to. One of the main reasons I love cons. I can go and share fandom with many likemind individuals.
I used to take hundreds of pics at cons but no longer. I usually go now to be in them or watch with others. Best photoshoot gatherings to me are Zelda 2009 at AX. We had a really awesome lineup of very impressive cosplays. The Smash Bros. gathering that year was also fantastic.
The worst ones are the ones people make and noone shows up to...

I go to gatherings all the time! or at least, I try to. When I first started cosplaying I went to more gatherings then panels, both for taking pictures of others and being in them. I've hosted a few, but mostly I just like being there with other people to talk about the show and take some silly pictures. If a gathering just happens to be going on near me, I might head over and get some pics if I like the series.

aaaaand pic is the T&B shoot from Day 2 at ALA that I "hosted". I was the Tiger Kaede since I was too lazy to put on my actual costume.

They're nice places to meet other people from your fandom(s).

That and it reduces the awkwardness I get whenever I'm in front of a camera.

Sometimes I'll go if it's a fandom that I'm interested in, but I usually don't like participating. I dunno, I think there's something slightly hokey about a whole bunch of cosplayers from the same fandom in a single shot, not to mention they tend to be really chaotic at times.

It's nice when the gathering kind of breaks up and people kinda settle into their own groups or niches to get some good photos in. Gatherings are great for meeting people, but otherwise, I'm iffy on them.

I don't really have a type, to be honest. A guy who's nice and attractive, intelligent, etc.
But I have a boyfriend, so I'm really not interested in other men at the moment.

They can always be chaotic, but also generally fun. Im the Jiraiya in the back, this was ACen '09 and it was probably one of the best groups I had taken photos of or been apart of.

I usually go to get pictures of me interacting with the other characters in the show that I'm cosplaying as since I don't usually have a group for cosplay...so going to photo shoots is like my substitute group.

I think my best and worst experience was the same one! I loved the pictures we got from the shoot and my friend and I had some really good photos together (my rare cosplaying buddy) but I got the worst sunburn I had in years due to strapless cosplay, being outside unexpectedly, and no sunscreen! It hurt so badly the rest of the weekend. Also there was a girl who was cosplaying the same character as me and she was a drag on the whole photoshoot cuse she was just not enthusiastic at all
