01/09/12(Mon)18:23 No.5341674Clearly,
you are not a cosplayer, or you would know that Cosplay doesn't have to
be of an Asian character, it doesn't even have to be of an Anime.
I'm
from the UK and have seen people cosplaying characters from Films, TV
Shows, Western cartoons, fully-masked characters, characters from video
games, Gaia avatars, OC's, Real people, characters from Asian anime who
are not supposed to be Asian...
I could go on, I could rage, but it would be pointless and I have better things to be doing.
What I'm saying is, to say Westerners can't cosplay is completely close-minded.
Asians
might have a slight advantage when cosplaying Asian characters, but
Westerners have that same advantage when it comes to cosplaying Western
characters - and even if they do have any advantage whatsoever, it is
only very slight. By putting the work in, one could cosplay a character
from a different region better than somebody who is from the right
region for it.
Cosplayers attacking other cosplayers is pointless
- You might have 1,000 followers on a cosplay website, be a mirror
image of your reference picture, and be considered the idol of so many
up-and-coming cosplayers, but when it comes down to it, outside the
convention, we are the same, and everybody else will see us as such - we
are all a bunch of geeks playing dress up.
