Paranoia Agent is currently on my modern classic anime I really enjoy.

Normally I don't mind a trip down memory lane but Jkid's photos always weirded me out because in a lot of them the person clearly doesn't know they're having their picture taken or looks surprised to find the camera pointed at them.

Plus I've been kind of weirded out by him since we travel the same convention circuit and I read a mini-weirdo story on Coscom about someone getting their picture taken and found the picture here, taken by him.

Well, I'm more of a candid cosplay photographer. Many times I do ask before taking a photo. But in a significant portion of the time, they just pose before I even ask. It's like they know they see a camera and their mental reflex responds to it.

It has nothing to do with being a celebrity. It's common sense that if you want to take a photo, at least have the decency to ask if they're obviously doing something else. Just because we're in costume at a convention doesn't mean we're not going to feel annoyed if we find pictures taken of us while we're not even aware of a camera being on us. Would I get annoyed if I found out people from the event took my picture without me knowing? Yes.

Would I get annoyed if I found out people just wandering by that weren't familiar with the event took my picture? No.

Why is that? Because everyone that goes to conventions with a camera with the intent to take pictures knows it's just polite to ask first if they're not already posing.

I'm not going to be a bitch about it if I see myself in some random room/crowd shot but it weirds me out if I'm clearly the person they were trying to photograph of and they obviously didn't want me to see them doing it, because if they did want me to know they would have said something.

That's the whole issue here. It's not us being stuck up bitches or oversensitive because we might be making a derpy face or be doing something embarrassing. It's because it's pretty much a creepy stalker thing to do to actually try and get a picture of one person without them noticing you taking it.

I've never taken pictures when going to cons because I rarely ever use a camera but if I saw someone dressed up really cool, I'd probably just take a quick snap of it.
And you're saying it like he's hiding in the bushes or the foliage sneaking pics of you.
Also, you mentioned the event. You're going in knowing full well there are people with cameras taking pictures. You signed up for it. Do you actually expect privacy? Shut the hell up.

Pretty sure everyone wanders into the dealers room at some point and last time I saw Yaya's booth at AUSA she was handing out cards with her name and picture on it and (I could be mistaken though) her name was on the booth. Plus she was in the booklets they hand out, and on the website, and probably mentioned in opening ceremonies (which I skipped), and had her own panels.

Yes, I do go to the dealers room. Just to buy cheap manga, and anime DVDs, and the occasional t-shirt.
