I'm challenging all cosplayers for 2012 that you can only cosplay for.......$50. This covers the cost of materials, props, and labor.

Can you do it? Or like always, you will lie thru your teeth.
    >> Anonymous 12/21/11(Wed)01:19 No.5266647
If you make it yourself, why would you pay for "labor"

I've made costumes for less than 50 dollars before. It's just a matter of finding something that doesn't require a new wig and using materials you already have on hand
    >> Anonymous 12/21/11(Wed)01:19 No.5266649
Does it count if I already have plenty of materials? I can probably make a bunch for free at this point.
    >> Anonymous 12/21/11(Wed)01:20 No.5266657
In terms of time alone, I don't think many cosplayers could make an entire cosplay in under 7 hours, and that's being pretty lenient with a minimum wage of $7.

    >unreasonable challenge
    >"Or like always, you will lie thru your teeth."
    >you can only cosplay for.......$50.
    >dat spelling, dat grammar, dat hardly understandable English

3/10 for making me respond, but I wish I'd spent my time brushing my teeth instead.
    >> Anonymous 12/21/11(Wed)01:20 No.5266659
I've already done that this year.
    >> God !BrODINgKJM 12/21/11(Wed)01:21 No.5266661
I can. Be better than all your cosplays too.

    >>5266647
Technically, you "working" on the cosplay would be best counted as you "working" at your normal wage/salary, whatever it is. Using materials already on hand and failing to count the price of those materials "because I already had them" is sort of cheating, isn't it?

    >"lol but it's free, I already had it"
But you had to buy it at some point in time, didn't you?

$50 is my Scarborough Renaissance Festival budget. Already have patterns, some fabric for shirt. The only thing that's going to cost me money is tights, boots, and leather for my cuffs/shoulders/vest. Let's hope $50 is enough. Because that's probably all I can afford for a 1 day costume.

My Red Arrow/ EGA outfit for the conventions? LOL $50 yaoming.jpg

    If all else fails
    >$10 walmart superboy shirt
    >$10 temporary black hair dye
    >$20 Payless combat boots
    HAI I'M SUPERBOY.

My Saiyaman costume was under 50.

    >7 dollar ray bans style sunglasses
    >5 dollar curtain as head wrap..thing
    >2 Dollar green oversized tshirt, cut and sewn up again
    >2 dollar belt
    >leggings and turtleneck i already owned
    >15 dollars of fabric for boot covers
    >10 dollar gloves, modifid using same boot cover fabric
    >5 dollar red bedsheet used for cape
    >already owned pins covered in paint i already owned
    >Total: 46$

it's really not that hard, as long as the costume isnt complex.
    >> Anonymous 12/21/11(Wed)01:39 No.5266770
My next two costumes seem to be averaging 20 bucks for one and 40 for the other.

I don't have the money to get over 50 bucks in the first place, but the most expensive I've ever made was 200 bucks.
    >> Anonymous 12/21/11(Wed)01:50 No.5266833
Cost of labor alone makes this challenge impossible unless you just want us to pull off closet cosplay or buy from some shitty Philippines cosplay sweat shop.

It's one of the only remotely decent looking pics I have. Every other one either suffers my hair being too poofy or the coat completely obscuring the suit

Considering my costume list for 2012 is remarkably simple...hell, I'll try for $30.

That's what my Gold (Pokemon) crossplay cost me (costume, plushie materials, labor and badges; I already had that Masterball).

Still filled with flaws (no bangs, very long bag, not accurate photo posing, socks!) since it was my first non-closet cosplay, along with lack of photoshopping skills.

Maybe my Rainbow Dash cosplay will cost $50 or less, depending if I found everything I need here, or I have to order them online.

Lemme think. I am planning a new cosplay, which costs:
    darkbrown fabric (already bought) 9€
    darkred fabric (already bought) 7€
    Wig (Already bought): 8€
Buttons: about 1€ (got a pack of 80 for 5€)
Little piece of gold pleather: free (from a friend)
That's about it. some hooks, gold paint i already have here... that would be about 35$ altogether.
Okay, no labor included, but still I think I'ts pretty okay for the complexity of this Cosplay...

I have already purchased all materials for all of the 6 cosplays that I have planned for next year.

It costed me about $45 in total. Feels pretty good man.
    >> Oshi !pkMVShM4AY 12/21/11(Wed)09:37 No.5267376
The only two I have planned for next year so far that I need to buy material for are Wheatley and The Kid... And I might be able to swing both for $50, but probably not. Definitely under $50 each. The Kid might push it due to props.
But if I do something from Assassin's Creed? Pfffft.
