    257 KB Convention Routines Jkid !L8qRJlW3g2 12/15/11(Thu)23:19 No.5251116
    Tell me your convention routines.

When I mean convention routine is how you enjoy your anime convention in a average day. My convention routine is me going around the convention building taking pictures of cosplayers individually and during photo shoots. In between those rounds I go check out the artist alley, the video game room, the dealers room. I maybe go check out an anime screening or too. Most of those major interruptions between the photography sessions are either because of lunch or meal times or me attending a panel.

    Wake up.
    Haul ass to Artist Alley.
Sit most of the day doodling, talking to those around me, selling stuff.
    People watching is exhausting.
    Go back to room.
    Collapse in the shower.
    Collapse on the bed.
Yup. Pretty much it but I like people watching so it's all good.

Although I think my con routines start long before the event (planning stage), it generally goes like this:

    Out of town cons:
    >Shit's all packed up during the week
    >Wake up super early
    >Wear most of cosplay or lolita until I get there (depends on what I cosplay as/length of con weekend)*
    >Get con-buddy
    >Get there - fight for a parking space
    >Pick up badge/sign in (I usually register ahead of time)
    >Wander around the dealer's room/artist alley
    >Momentarily leave to sign in at hotel and drop off my stuff there
    >Attend panels already planned on attending
    >Fuck the "rave" - go to late night panels, check room parties, and/or hit the town.

Of course, whether it's a small, local con or a huge one, I'm always taking photos, but I don't generally visit the cosplay meets (I just run into them). When there aren't any panels/events I want to check out, I'm usually getting something to eat or visiting the dealer's hall/artist alley. I tend to avoid spending money on souvenirs until Sunday. *For big cons (3-4 days), I tend to wear "normal" clothes on the first day(s), cosplay on the busiest day (usually Saturday), and wear lolita on the last day. I also like checking out the local area for restaurants I have yet to try. As much as I like cons, I really can't stand being in the same vicinity too long, especially when it's in an area I've never been to.
    >> Anonymous 12/16/11(Fri)11:51 No.5252647
    Don't wake up.
    Get into costume/makeup.
    Then wake up.
Fix any dumb mistakes made in my still sleeping state.
Immediately hit the dealer's room, then artist's alley.
Wander around like a lost lemming for hours until there's a panel/photoshoot I want to hit.
    Lunch around this time.
Probably go to the dealer's room and AA at least 3 more times with different groups of people.
    Late-night shenanigans.
    Shower.
    Bed.

    >Dressed up all extravagant all days
    >Try to talk to friends
    >Get stopped every 5 minutes for pictures
    >To the "rave," dancing, having a good time
    >Get stopped every 5 minutes for pictures
    >Do my staff duties, whatever they may be for that particular con
    >Still get stopped every 5 minutes for pictures
    >Haul ass to the hotel room, hope none of my roommates are asleep so I can get a spot on the bed
    >fall asleep in everything but my circle lenses, wig and shoes.
    >> Anonymous 12/16/11(Fri)12:02 No.5252675
Walk in, get my badge, ignore the one chick that's always working the front desk and complaining about not being able to go see the rest of it.
Walk up to the table(s) selling anime/video game stuff, maybe think about buying something.
Wonder why I spent money to come when I could've just went to the anime shop a day they're open because they aren't selling anything new.
Look around at the people cosplaying, wonder why there are so many people that aren't. Get self conscious.
Get a little lost and end up in an empty lounge. Sit down for a bit then double back around.
Go upstairs and see a gaming room and watch them play for a while.
Walk down the hall a little and check out the only room seriously worth being in (artist alley). Maybe buy a picture or two.
Go back downstairs, maybe get food.
    Leave.

Uh, I have more a set of traditions prior to conventions as opposed to a routine (wow that sounds lame) But I always set my alarm to the pokemon theme song, I always grab an energy drink for the hour ride to Toronto and my usual group always screams Queen songs in thr car there (you know, like in Waynes World? I'm talking air gutair and everything) and we always sing Yugioh abridged songs in line. That's pretty much it. Oh yeah, if I'm staying in a hotel I will eat subway for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

    >Repeat all weekend

Get up around 9 and get a shower, because I tend to take long showers and everyone else is still sleeping.
We usually leave the room around 11ish with everyone showering/getting ready/eatting something.
    Walk around, hitup AA/Dealers room.
    Have some form of lunch
Go to any gatherings or interesting panels. More photo taking and hanging with friendos.
Dinner is around this point and is always a sit down dinner of some kind.
Drink whatever we brought in the hotelroom. Venture out mostlikely drunk.
    Fall asleep anywhere between 1am-3am

    Be press the whole convention
    Take photos of shit
Write notes the whole panel for articles later
Watch concerts, take photos if allowed

Shit, my fun levels are kind of low

Y'know... It is kind of weird... For a cosplay board, we've got to have the smallest ratio of fatties to in-shape people of any cosplay community. Must be the fear and shame keeping them away.
    >> Anonymous 12/16/11(Fri)14:04 No.5252928
Wake up, eat breakfast, put on costume

Go to con, get pictures taken, hang with friends, wander around ..

Get out of costume and put on PARTY CLOTHES. Have dindin.

    THEN PARTY TIME.

Rinse and repeat the next day.

    Get up.
Realize pillows are soft as fuck and fall back asleep.
Get up again 9ish and wake roomies up if I have to.
    Shower, makeup, get dressed.
Wander until I find AA or dealers room.
Go to whatever meetup where ever.
    Eat when I can.
Shenanigans until I get too tired.
Crawl to hotel room, rinse and repeat.

My Con routines are pretty simple I just get a ride with a friend from my house each day, to the convention center that's like 30 minutes away so there's no real hassle.

    >wake up at 9
    >make sure I have all my items in my bag (camera, cell phone, ATM card/money, DS, mini speakers, advil, bandages, & a snack )
    >shower, eat a filling breakfast
    >recheck bag
    >get ready around 12
    >head to con around 2pm-3pm
    >get badge
    >take pictures
    >highlight panels I want to check out (even though I end up attending none)
    >dealers room/ artists alley
    >hang out, go eat at nearby food places
    >chill in other people's hotel rooms
    >head back home,sleep
    >wake up and do it all again

With local cons its pretty much the same, but I'm going to ACen 2012 so that's definetly going to change up the simple routine I've got going on here.
