Hey /cgl/, what's the difference between a hambeast and a landwhale?

    Just thought I'd ask.
    >> Anonymous 12/14/11(Wed)22:20 No.5247901
There really isn't any at all, but you could argue that because whales are generally larger than pigs, landwhales are bigger than hambeasts.
    >> Anonymous 12/14/11(Wed)22:20 No.5247906
One's six and the other's half a dozen.

Although to be fair I think you have to be extra gross to get the "beastly" label. Some whales are cute.
    >> Raeganon 12/14/11(Wed)22:21 No.5247907
Hambeasts, much like their natural equivalent, the wild boar, are more aggressive than the landwhale by nature. The landwhale is more prone (dohoho) to simply lazing about, much like a beached whale, until high tide, when it slowly withdraws back into the ocean.
To beware, however, of the killer landwhale, as those are deceptively calm but may lash out when provoked.
    >> Anonymous 12/14/11(Wed)22:25 No.5247929
    >>5247907
I think if we're going to differentiate at all, this is a pretty solid way to do it.

Hambeasts are those enormous weeaboos spazzes who tackles and 'glomp' on to people at cons. Think any story where some crazy fatty has flung themself at another cosplayer and broken their prop or costume or even one of their bones? Hambeast.

Now, those enormous cosplayers who shouldn't be in costume at all that are always just kind of dragging themselves around cons? Landwhales.
    >> Anonymous 12/14/11(Wed)22:26 No.5247937
Hambeasts are unkept rolls of fat and induces uncontrollable cringing within a three-feet radius.
Landwhales are just unfortunate, larger and more docile, but more deadly.

I've always thought the definition of hambeast to be not only an unfortunately large human being, but one of horrible attitude and riddled with general unpleasantry.

A landwhale, well, is just a larger sort of hambeast, sometimes without the personality negative.

    Hambeast's evolution, to say.
    Rock type.
    Etc.

if you want to lose your job.

These types of people probably hear it from their doctors every time they have to go in, which is usually pretty frequent. No one is going to convince them to stop.
People have to be self-motivated to accomplish anything in life, especially major change, and if they're content being like that, then they're never going to do anything about it.

You know. My mother used to be obese(320 pounds at 5'4") even when she was her heaviest, she still didn't use one of those. The only time she did, was years later, after she lost all the weight. She slipped and busted her ankle. Then she actually used one when she was grocery shopping. Even my dear grandma, well into her 80's didn't use one. She'd walk around and use the grocery cart to help support her slightly.

I think those should be used for the elderly, people who are injured(like a broken leg), or ones who are disabled for reason not caused by being a fat ass.

This thread is depressing in a lot of ways. While I admit seeing these people kind of disgusts me I often feel sorry for them.

Almost everyone is sympathetic towards anorexic people (or those with other eating disorders) but nobody seems sympathetic to these people. There is reason for that but still, it's a disorder of some type, at least in those extreme cases.

I suppose in a way, like anorexia, it is an eating disorder in some people. In others, it's probably just a combination of poor education about healthy eating habits, laziness and a hectic lifestyle.

I think the issue of laziness/ignorance/busy lifestyle definitely applies to the average chubby/fat person you see walking around in every day life, but it's way more than that for these super obese people.

I just wish it were seen as being a real eating disorder, which I think it is. It may be repulsive but I feel sorry for people who are like that.

I kinda have trouble visually distinguishing what's obese and what's simply overweight since we realised that PT is classified as obese. It's kind of a reality check.
