I figured out a solution to Pixyteri.

We should all submit every damn one of her photos into the show 'What Not To Wear'. If you don't watch TLC, or you're not an Amerifag, it basically goes like this.

    >Send in photos of godawful dresser
    >They give them 5k to spend on clothes
    >Throw out all their clothes
    >Get them clothes that make them look good
    >Makeover
    >No more uglyfag

Pixyteri would have all her awful cosplays and shit thrown out and they'd teach her how to be a goddamn adult. Then she'd be somewhat pretty and no more dramu.

    Opinions?

I flippin' adore this show because Jeannie Mai calls people out on their bullshit and tells people when they look straight-up horrendous instead of making fun of them maliciously like those assholes on What Not To Wear. I remember there was an episode where an older woman wore a lot of 'kawaii' type Japanese fashion and Jeannie told her she was too old for it and looked like a crazy person. But they also do a lot of self esteem exercises too.

I watched a lot of this show when I was stuck at home with a broken leg and it's pretty good, would work way better for PT than people she would immediately reject as a defense mechanism. Plus Jeannie Mai is Asian so PT might feel a ~connection~ with her.

This is actually something I want to address with my Murrican counterparts. I'm not directing this at any of you specifically, but why is it that Americans have such terrible, terrible dress sense?

I'm from Europe and I've been to New York and Florida twice on holiday, I have to say that Europeans have an overall better sense of style and fashion then Americans.
When I was in the states, it seemed like a lot of people had trouble grasping colour schemes, flattering cuts and how to accessorize. I saw a lot of people walking around flat caps.. flat caps of all things!

Even when you have perfectly good clothes, just in a different style (ea Lolita, gothic, super casual) it's just thrown onto the pile of 'you're not professional' or 'you're immature' even if you do dress up well on occasions that would require you to be well dressed. I mean, not everyone has a closet full of business clothes and not everyone wants to put on some tights every damn morning to wear an adorable skirt or match their bra's with their clean white dress shirts when they're just going grocery shopping...

    No but seriously, this show.
How dare they, how FUCKING dare they, when that bitch is sat there wearing a pair of turquoise earrings with some kind hideous brown check/plain shirt and misshapen, baggy gray work pants.

    I'm going to explode.

My fucking god yes! This so much!
According to WNTW you're required to dress UP as if you're going to a business meeting for casual shit all the time! If not you are considered a lazy slob or childish or something. Wtf?
If you're a student? Why? I like jeans and a t-shirt when I'm sitting and learning. Work? Work appropriate things are fine. I mean I won't wear a lolita dress to work, hell no, but I'm certainly not going to pull out my 2 inch pumps for it either.
Is there something wrong with not being super flashy?

And the last time I stepped into a store I found....1 shirt. 1 shirt that I liked. It had a panda on it. Everything else was full of sequins. I think sequins is in now. I don't know why but this is considered fashionable.

You have no idea what you're talking about spoony. Stacy is 42. She dresses very well for her age. You should not be wearing a crappy lolita dress to a professional job, especially when you're 30. The way you dress is the first thing a person notices about you and if you dress like a 8 year old when you're 30 you're going to be looked at like a freak.
    >> Hermit 12/13/11(Tue)07:49 No.5240335
    >>5240331

No, you actually see throughout the filming that she isn't walking around in lolita. Even during the fire safety exercise you can see she's dressed appropriately.

I don't have a fucking clue who Stacey is, but if she's the presenter then she absolutely does not know how to coordinate or dress professionally for her age; she looks like she's trying too hard.

Sat what you want, but it's a generally accepted fact by the rest of the Western world that a lot of Americans do not know dress themselves, and fighting that fact is like trying to fight that water is wet and the sun is warm.

Incorrect. During the episode both the ita and her boss mention that she wears that shit to work. Honestly can't believe anyone is defending the ita here. Look at the oversized, slouchy, unproportioned shit she wears in the 360. Look at her outfits afterward.

    Also:

    >flat caps
The fuck are you talking about? Baseball hats? Murrican culture, deal with it.

    >According to WNTW you're required to dress UP as if you're going to a business meeting for casual shit all the time!
The problem Stacy and Clinton have with those people is that they never dress like crap "just to go to the grocery store." They say "I just wear it to go to the grocery store" and then you clearly see that they're wearing oversized Winnie the Pooh shirts and men's pajama pants to the office. Also, they never have students on, except the one super-hoochie law student.

Another note! Stacy and Clinton are never bitchy with the really fragile seeming people like "I'm fifty, overweight, my husband just left me, I'm in a deadend job, I know my wardrobe sucks." They clearly only bring the snark with the firebrands.

WHITE KNIGHTING FOR STACY AND CLINTON, ALL DAY, ER'RYDAY.

Are you retarded? Yes she is, they even said that they had to tell her it wasn't okay to wear that to work and the one that nominated her said that she cried to her because people made fun of her for it. And an awful hoody and sweat pants is appropriate for work? Even if you're at a fire house for training, that's a huge no. One girl at the law firm I work for was let go because she thought wearing hoody and jeans was okay to wear in an office setting, a customer service rep dressed like that wouldn't exactly give me confidence working with someone that looked so childish, and the girl let go had us lose a big client because they didn't have confidence in our staff if they couldn't dress themselves. Face it, she had a bad childhood and is trying to relive it through her awful tacky clothing and they're just trying to help her grow as a person and realize she's 30 fricken years old and needs to start dressing like it.

The only outfits I even liked on her were the grey suit and the second to last outfit. The rest of it either looked too flashy or too old. Made me wonder how the fuck these people even managed to get this kind of program, since the only ones I liked were picked out by the girl herself.

I don't think the Lolita clothes were work appropriate, but it's not impossible to style them for a business meeting rather than throwing them into trash because 'lol fetish wear'. She didn't know how to style herself, but throwing her into an entirely different clothing sort isn't going to help that.

well you did go to florida; of course there will be people horridly dressed.

let me break it down for you:
in america, we're all fat. mostly. fat people clothing choices are:
for men: big dog shirts, acid-washed 48x30 jeans
for women: shapeless paisley empire-waist tops, dark wash jeans, or sweat pants

In all the times I've seen WNTW (which isn't many) it always seemed to be that the person was dressing unprofessionally for their job or was trying to find a new job, or had just lost a lot of weight or something. Most of the time it was business or success related which is why most of their outfits are business casual.
The problem is that they do throw out lots of clothes that the person might not wear to work or professionally.
In the case of that lolita, I'm pretty sure she was wearing it to work sometimes, which is why it was an issue in the first place.

Sometimes I have no idea if what I'm wearing counts as business casual because the definitions for women are so broad and I feel like I look stupid just wearing a button up and slacks.
I wouldn't mind going on the show if they understood that the things you wear out and to work aren't always the same.

PT would never go on the show though. She could use a professional wardrobe but she doesn't think she needs to be professional, and she would never agree to giving up her kawaii uguu stuff.

The problem with a delusion is that it has no basis in fact.

It's not just WNTW that thinks you should dress business like all day, erryday, I want to /fa/ asking for wardrobe basics, and all I got were clothes that didn't look like they'd be comfortable unless you were just sitting at a computer desk all day. I don't know why I, as a 19 year old student, would want to wear stuff like that on a regular basis.

And I totally know what you're talking about when you go shopping. Last time I went, I had to try on 6 tops before I found one I liked, and by then I was exhausted. I think I'll stick to jeans and a tshirt.
    >> Anonymous 12/13/11(Tue)18:59 No.5242315
How is the newer version of How Do I Look?

It was like a milder version of WNTW when the white bitch was on it. I remember this one girl whose band mates turned her in (she didn't have a "rock" look) and how they laughed at her and treated her like a dog because she didn't want to get rid of a specific shirt.
    >> Anonymous 12/13/11(Tue)19:04 No.5242332
I think PT should go on How Do I Look? instead of WNTW. WNTW is typically aimed for 35+, HDIL is more under 35. Also, HDIL seems to take care of more people who purposely dress outrageously rather than people who just have stopped caring about how they look (more WNTW).
