Okay.. sort of a lesser known secret these days.

Not long ago I managed to successfully nuke my hair using bleach and the result was that my hair was completely destroyed.

My hair was dry, thin and brittle.
Whenever I brushed it, I was shedding clouds of split ends, which was preferable to when actual clumps of strands came away.

The worst part about this entire debacle was when I discovered that I could no longer dye my hair, so not only was I left with this disgusting straw-coloured mess, I couldn't even minimize it's horrid appearance through dying.

See, apparently hair dye doesn't actually cling to the hair strands alone, but rather the protein in your hair so any attempts of mine to colour my hair left me sitting dejectedly in the shower whilst the colour ran down the drain.

It doesn't matter how string the dye, how long you leave it on for, if you've destroyed the protein in your hair then that's basically it until you manage to grow some more.

I looked all over the internet for remedies, buying hair repair products by the basket full and taking to saturating my hair in olive oil over night.

Nothing seemed to work, my hair remained dry, brittle and was unable to hold colour.

I was sitting down one day, trying to think of any way to restore my hair.. eat more nuts? Meats, mushrooms? What has a lot of protein in it... eggs right? I mean, they're essentially just placenta and shit load of delicious protein.

I mixed together a bowl of two eggs and some conditioner and applied it to my head, leaving it for an hour.

    IT. WAS. DISGUSTING

After I washed it off, I couldn't tell any difference and my hair seemed to be dryer then ever.. dejected, I decided to try dying my hair one last time before I got it over with and cut it all off...

It worked, the eggs worked where all the expensive repair products had failed. Over the next few days I did a few more hour long treatments with eggs and my hair gradually strengthened, it was no longer falling out and I could dye it again.

For anybody that's totally fucked their hair, do not despair; I highly recommend saturating your hair in eggs. It's gross, but it absolute wonders for you.. I'm still amazed even now.

    Picture related, I'm the redhead.
Just look at all that gorgeous, glossy, healthy hair. You'd never guess that I never had to cut it either.
    >> Anonymous 12/08/11(Thu)02:13 No.5222721
If you have greasy hair and/or dandruff lemons/baking soda and olive oil are great.

The lemon (really, lemon juice) and baking soda is for between washes to get rid of the dandruff/grease so that you don't have to wash (and further damage hair).

For when you do wash, use olive oil on your scalp and leave it in for a while before showering.

Worked well for me. Washing too much does a lot of damage to hair and skin, more than I imagined before I stopped doing it as much (I'm clean, I use water and lemons and stuff, but I just don't scrub myself crazy everyday with heavy soaps like I used to).

I chug a little every day but then again I love the smell and being British, Vinegar is a very homey thang. I use it to take my make up off if I'm not removing it using the Olive Oil Method, good cleanser. Makes your skin feel good, your hair look good and helps your digestive system

Also, if you do this and go to wash it out, remember not to wash it with really hot water otherwise it'll cook the egg in your hair.
    >> Anonymous 12/08/11(Thu)04:42 No.5223082
Drink lots of water trust me. It has so many benefits. I used to drink pop all the time but I got into the habit of drinking water and now I actually crave water sometimes. I also carry a water bottle with me everywhere. I still drink juice or something when I'm eating, but otherwise I drink water.

It really is good for you.

Don't touch your face, I know it's hard to get used to it but just don't. I had to learn this as well. Also, everytime I go to the bathroom after I wash my hands I splash water on my face and wipe it off. If you're going to wash your hair everyday get a leave in conditioner. I use CHI it has done wonders for my hair. I've heard Biosilk is good as well. Though, recently I think they've changed their formula so you're going to have to look into that.

Honestly, if you're suffering from acne just go to your dermatologist and he will give you pills. That's what helped me mainly. All this over the counter stuff usually doesn't work that well. Plus, it only treats the outside, you need pills to treat the inside. Trust me, I had pretty moderate acne for awhile and pills cleared it right up. Though, take all the other precautions I listed as well. Touching your face to much or something could result in a zit or two.

Also, keep your hair away from you face and get fresh air.

It's sort of a cheat...and can be a bit pricey...but for people who want to fix damaged hair or dry scalps...the after-dye conditioner tubes that come in the L'oreal dye boxes are crafted by the gods.

My hair feels like marshmallows and clouds when I'm done with it.
With hair halfway down to my ass, I get about 4-5 washings with it. But worth every penny.

Antibacterial mouthwash works wonders. Also, what >>5223056 said- you might have tonsil stones. Get a flashlight and poke around your tonsils and see if you've got any, and extract 'em if you can. Just be careful not to trigger your gag reflex.

You're better off investing in a good leave-in conditioner. I use CHI, it was about 16 bucks or so and I use it AT LEAST once a month or every other time I wash my hair. I only wash my hair every 2 or 3 days. I've had it for about a year now and I still have about half left in the bottle. A little goes a long way. I also use a ceramic Solia flat-iron. (70-80 bones) My hair is much healthier and looks amazing. Well worth investments in my opinion.

My hair can get oily fast if I'm not careful, but next time I put the bleach and dye to my hairs I'll look into doing that.

Try to avoid cheap shampoos like Sauve, V05, Herbal Essence, etc.
They will do one of 2 things in the long run.
    1. Very high in alkaline causing hair to be stripped of essentials and dry the fuck out (also make color fade fastest)
    2. Contain paraffin wax which will make hair shiny and soft, but build up over time and eventually 'suffocate' it. It will lose integrity and break off, split ends, unhealthy crap.

You can use a clarifying shampoo to help remove the bulk of buildup.

Aside from eating a good diet, getting exercise and plenty of sleep, I have some other secrets. (Although I've fallen off the wagon lately with the sleep and exercise because of school...)

    1. Mix regular sugar in some olive oil or banana boat after sun aloe gel. You should have just enough aloe or olive oil to create a paste; the mixture should be mostly sugar. This makes the best exfoliator ever. I use it at least once a week or as needed. For me, olive oil works best in the cold weather and aloe best when I'm out in the sun.

    2. Use a really creamy, moisturizing lotion or baby oil immediately after you get out of the shower for super soft skin.

    3. V-8 juice. I notice when I drink veggie juice regularly, my skin looks great. Must be the Vitamin A.

    4. When I shower, I lather up in hot water. Then I gradually reduce the temperature until it's as cold as I can stand it. The hot water opens the pores to flush them out, then the cold closes them up. It's also good for your circulation.

You're probably going to give it some expensive protein conditioners for a few weeks. Also, semi-permanent and other unnatural colors such as blue, green, pink, etc. CAN stick to your hair, because it works a different way than most other hair dyes do.

I actually didn't finish reading the last blurb, sorry.

The reason why egg probably worked was because of the protein. When I was buying bleach, the lady at the counter gave me a free packet of protein conditioner. I put it on immediately after I bleached the first time and my hair was pretty soft. After I re-bleached it for a second time, I didn't have the same packet but I put a ton of a different protein conditioner and it left my hair soft. People come to me trying to touch my hair because they can't believe I bleached it twice with no split ends. If your hair cannot be dyed anymore after a certain point, a temporary dye/semi-permanent might be a last option choice because it doesn't harm the hair follicle. If you look in some punk forums some people leave that shit on for hours. I left it on for two and still no split ends.

Scrub your face/neck with coffee/sugar about 2 times a week to exfoliate.
Don't waste your money on expensive products.

Take a spoonfull of coffee, a spoonfull of warm water, and a spoonfull of sugar, then mix them together in a bowl.

Use your fingers to massage it on your face for a few minutes. (don't scrub too hard).

When your done your skin feels smoother than a baby's asscheek.

    oh anon.

I have bad shitty pores on my nose. They become less shitty when I cleanse them with egg whites and gentle soap cleanser (leave it until it hardens, about 15 minutes or so) then use a baking powder paste on them about 30-40 seconds every other day. You should see results in about 1-2 weeks, though obviously there are no miracles.

I lather on Johnson's baby oil onto my skin post-shower. I'm bad at remembering to use real moisturizer often (and moisturizing cream uses up so quickly, and it's pricy!) so the baby oil is really convenient.

if it's that thin, you should see a physician re: possible medications you can use to either halt the loss or attempt to regrow the hair.

However, it's very hard to get thinning hair to regrow and you may want to invest in hats, hair scarves, and wigs!

I have heard good things about the new garnier that is all natural or whatever. I know Tressimme used to be great, but they may have either changed or diluted the formula since it used to be professional.

Honestly though, you can find bogo deals on Paul Mitchell, Joico, Goldwell, etc at places like JCpenny salon. The shampoos are much more concentrated (so you can use less). In the long run, you will spend LESS than drugstore stuff.

it's because your muscles are falling, not because your skin is loose, so a cream won't work. they had an advertizement on tv once for this kind of spring-resistance thing you prop between your chin and clavicle to exercise the muscles, but fuck buying that shit when you can do it with nothing!
    >make a fist, position it under your chin so that your thumb is either against your jaw, or against your clavicle- whichever's more comfortable.
    >press against your fist with the muscles under your tongue. (it's a weird way to describe it, but this will be the easiest way to identify the right muscle groups)
    >press, release, press, release
    >swear to god, your turkey neck will tighten up if you do this. i used to do it on the bus because it really doesn't look like you're doing anything weird, just like you're resting your chin on your fist.
you can also work those muscles by pushing your lips as far forward as they'll go, and holding it, but this is obv something you'll have to do at home or else you'll look like a creeper

yes, i mentioned the tongue because using your tongue to press down as hard as you can is actually using the right muscles. your goal is not to move your *neck* at all during this exercise; remember, your chin should be RESTING on your fist, so in the start position, your chin, fist and the notch of your collarbone are all touching.
pic related again, these are the areas you should feel tightness in.

Ever since I got a gym membership and have been working out and then afterwards showering and going into the steam room, my acne has cleared up a TON.

I work out, hit the showers, then after I shampoo my hair, I put conditioner in it and sit in the steam room for about 5-10 minutes. Then I go back into the showers and rinse off the sweat and conditioner I left in my hair.

The steams works wonders with clearing up your skin. Not only that, but since I leave conditioner in my hair while I'm in the steam room, the heat helps open up your hair follicles so that the conditioner can sink in more, leaving your hair shiny and super soft.

I find that soda makes tonsil stones happen more often. I have GIANT tonsils that haven't shrunk like they should as one ages, and huge gaping crypts in them so I get these damn things often. I quit drinking Coke and get them less often.

The good ol' FDA still thinks it's safe so it still gets prescribed. Accutane is really bad. Basically instead of controlling oil production, it stops it completely. Which is bad, your skin needs oil. Also you have to get regular pregnancy tests and abort if you're pregnant because of birth defects. I've heard it's amazing for really severe cystic acne, but mild acne can be treated without fucking up your body.

    Here are my two issues:
    1) My hair/skin are extremely dry. Constantly using lotions, moisturizers, etc. to help combat. However with my hair, my hair turns into a giant grease ball by the beginning of day two. (So lets say I wash my hair on Tuesday morning, by Wednesday morning/afternoon, it's already gross) I have no idea to address this issue as I don't want to be washing my hair every day, but I can't let it go for much longer than two.

    2) My lips are the driest dry that ever dried. I cannot hold any lipstick/gloss/stain at all. I constantly put chapstick on to help, but nothing ever holds. Any suggestions?

For the record, I drink nothing but tea/herbal tea and water. I'm a pretty healthy eater/exercise, etc. So the whole "drink more water" bit does nothing for me since I do..already.

Mmm kay I'm gonna tell you my method, it works but you really need to keep at it.

    Buy Likas papaya soap.
Lather it with some aloe vera onto the problem area.
Keep it on, to the point where it dries. You may have you keep your arm elevated or something. Depending on how sensitive your skin is you can shorten or lengthen the time you leave it on.
Rinse, repeat, every day, multiple times a day.
Stop wearing deodorant during this process. Use baking soda or baby power. Deodorant is one of the causes of this. If you can help it, try not to shave because that's another cause.

I had to do this for about two months, but it worked. I gave myself TERRIBLE armpit razor burn, trust me when I say my skin was dark dark brown, but now it's lighter than it was before.

Apple - cut in chunks, and puree as is. Massage onto your face in upwards circular motions. The acid in the apple, breaks down dead cells and help brighten your skin.
Honey - wash your face with warm water, apply a thin layer of honey onto it, let it sit for 2 mins, wash off. Honey helps seal in moisture and conditions the skin.

they also have a hemp series which works really well for dry skin.

As for the hair. Lush has some really nice shampoos and conditioners.
I used to have a dry, super itchy kind of scalp but ever since I started using their solid shampoo and conditioner I stopped having those problems. Their stuff can be costy, but they last for a long time(depending on how long/much hair you have of course)!

I think they also got a product called snake oil that you massage and let sink in before shampooing. It's for those with super dry scalps.

    hey guys,
can you recommend me any good shampoos?
I'm thinking of getting Frederic Fekkai Apple Cider Clarifying Shampoo, and since i heard clarifying shampoos dry out your hair a lot, i intend to use it every once a week, with deep conditioning right afterwards.

    another question:
right now my hair is thick and all, but i know for sure it's going to thin and dry out A LOT later on because i inherited my mother's hair. (her hair started thinning when she was about 30 years old)

so do i use shampoo for fine, dry hair or keep using shampoos for thick hair? is it really okay for me to use clarifying shampoo? or is there a way for me to prevent having brittle, thin hair like my mother?

    thanks in advance

Applying extra virgin olive oil, shea butter or cocoa butter to the skin every day will make it shine like a god. Squeeze a half lemon into water every day and drink it. It will clear up your skin amazingly well, also probably bad for your teeth.

Mix olive oil, egg yolk, honey, and mayonnaise together and rub that shit into your hair. Then wash it off with COLD or luke warm water.

Baking soda when wet and rubbed into the skin will clear up pores. It also burns. A lot.

    BB cream!
I heard about it once, decided to try it in the local Asian mall. I told the lady I had oily skin and she brought out Skin 79 Dreamgirls or something. I bought some later that day, cause it makes the skin look dewy, not greasy.

Lavender or Light Beige eye pencil - use on the waterline around your lids, both top and bottom. It really wakes up your eyes and makes them look bigger. I think Benefit has one. But use only on the waterline, otherwise it looks strange.

Mineral powder - It's the only thing I use now. I use a brand called Faces (sheer glow powder). Honestly a container lasts forever, and it's semi-waterproof and you don't look geasy mid-day. It covers alot without looking like you wear makeup.

Maybe someone here can help me... I'm looking for makeup, more specifically, face powder. I can't find any that doesn't make my skin burn, including the stuff that is marked "hypoallergenic". I usually apply the powder straight to my face because if I use a moisturizer or something like that, I tend to sweat a lot (don't know why). I've used almost all of the regular drug store brands. I was going to look into Bare Escentuals because I've heard good things, but I don't know if it will work with my skin. Any suggestions? I mostly want it because I have a bit if a blotchy complexion and don't want random colors on my face that shouldn't belong.

I had the exact same problem. I would wash it every morning but by the afternoon, it was limp and greasy. One day I went to get a haircut and the hairdresser asked me how much I washed my hair, and advised me to NOT wash it every day, wash it every other day.

So the next day, I didn't wash my hair, and it was greasy and horrible and I didn't want to even leave the house. But after about a week of washing it every other day, my hair stopped looking so greasy, and when I did wash it, it stayed looking like it did after styling. After about a month, my hair looked a lot healthier, and would only start looking greasy on the morning I had to wash it anyway.

I know it sounds scary to stop washing your hair every day, but honestly, it'll help. Part of the reason is that by washing your hair so often, you're stripping your hair of the natural oils, and so your body goes into overdrive to produce more to balance it out. By not doing this every day, your hair calms down a bit. What I like to do on my days off from washing to apply dry shampoo, just to freshen it up a bit after sleeping.

I go jogging every morning but only wash my hair once every two or three days. Simply rinsing my hair with water on non-shampoo days works well enough. I comb it through with my fingers while it's wet to distribute the oil evenly, and when it's dry there's no smell or greasiness or anything. Not sure about product, though, since I don't use any. I guess it would depend on the type of product.

Dropping trip for this one. You know that Dove deodorant that is supposed to help keep you stubble free for longer? It is in a pink tube and it really doesn't work like that. It does soften the skin and prevent ingrown hairs extremely well. I recently I started using it on other places I tend to get ingrown hairs.. you know where. It has helped sooo much. For the first time since I started shaving/waxing my downtown area is almost completely free of red marks and ingrowns. To be safe I don't use it right to far down, since that might cause an infection. I used to be pretty self conscious about it so I hope this helps you guys out.

As a guy, I CAN wear makeup but it tends to be a little awkward if a girl finds out, even if they're open minded and understand (it's awkward for me).

But I KNOW girls like guys with clean looking skin still, so what to do? Stupid girls dominating the beauty market. Guys want to be pretty without going into the girl's section of the store or coming off as effeminate as well!

When I asked her why, she told me that's the moisturizer she uses. Apparently, both her mom and her grandmother did the same thing growing up. It's a good moisturizer for sensitive skin, and cheaper than a lot of other products. Also, you can get it in a big-ass bottle and not run out for forever. It's not necessarily good for particularly oily skin, though!

It's dangerous and if you do it wrong the first time, you are fucked because doing it a second time is about the equivalent of taking a blowtorch to it. Spend the money and go to a salon.

Manic Panic is the absolute best temporary hair dye on the market. It's unique in that it acts as more of a stain than a chemical dye, and it doesn't the shit out of your already-dead cells. And, there is absolutely no danger in leaving the dye in for too long, because it simply doesn't have the capacity to damage the cells.
tl;dr: Go to a salon to bleach your hair and use a protein-based dye rather than a chemical dye.

I am obscenely pale with purple under my eyes all the time too. It sucks and ruins my whole appearance. But I found a pretty good solution. (Nothing permanently, unfortunately.)

    But, getting a lot of sleep and being healthier will diminish those dark circles. For the rest;

Use Urban Decay Eye Shadow Primer in Eden as a base under your eyes, followed by Amazing Cosmetics Concealer in the correct color for your tone (my dark circles are purple, if your's are blueish you will need a more peach tone) should really neutralize them for you. Mine are REALLY bad, and this helps SO. MUCH.

Also, I find when I'm dehydrated my dark circles are more pronounced too.

Here's a link to that concealer:

    Shave/wax properly you muppet.
Usually you'd moisturize after waxing/shaving with an unscented lotion - But if it's like bumpish and noticeable, I'm afraid you're going to have to cut the skin and little bit and dig the hair out. Or just to pop it like a pimple.

Washing it too much with products CAN make it more oily or dry looking, but seeing as you're wearing powdered make up everyday - you're clogging your pores for most of the day which is even worse. I'd say wash your face once every two days with an actual face washer and then moisturize. On other days, just wash it with plain cold water; morning&night.

I use a dry shampoo a lot, dirty little secret is fantastic, but mostly because I dye my hair odd colors and I don't want them washing out super fast.
My typical week looks like this
    Day one: normal shampoo
Day two: nothing (if you don't your hair often it should get to the point where it's not greasy on day 2)
    Days 3-4 dry shampoo
    day 5: wash normally

I still shower every day mind you, I just use a shower cap on my hair (my hair also takes a retarded long time to straighten so I like not having to completely redo it every day)

I have these tiny bumps on my face and I want them gone so badly. They're not really blackheads, I don't think, but they do kind of look like them. They're just tiny little spots, you can hardly see them, but I can definitely feel them, which is annoying. I do try to squeeze them out often (I know, I know, bad stuff), but they rarely come out and leave marks on my face from my nails. When they do come out, they're little black heads with a whitish looking tail thing.
I have no idea what they are and they're driving me crazy. They're the only thing keeping me from having smooth skin.

Pretty sure those are black heads. Biore does make pore strips for places on your face beside the nose, so I would suggest trying that and then putting benziode peroxide or salicylic acid afterwards to keep it cleaned out.

I'm the same way. Try to drinks lots of water regardless and wash your face regularly plus applying spot treatment. I still break out (I'm under a lot of stress and I'm not sleeping enough) but I'm keeping it under control for the most part.

The dots themselves are probably enlarged pores, with occasional blackheads in them. Look up pore cleansers (you can use strips but be careful because they can be abrasive) and pore minimizers. The dots will pretty much always be there but keeping them clean & minimizing them as much as you can will help.

Anyone have any tips for Missha M Perfect Cover BB cream users? I have it in shade 31 and could probably get away with using 23 (which I also own) or the new 27 if my face, neck and chest weren't significantly paler than my body. I'm new to BB cream and my questions are these:

-Would it be best if I used a self-tanner for faces to minimize the difference in color between my face/neck and the rest of me?

-I've been mixing some gel moisturizer into it on the back of my hand so it doesn't go on as thickly and is a bit more spreadable. The ratio of BB cream to gel is about 50-50 and amount I have once it's all mixed is about the size of a pea. I apply it with my fingers to warm the product up and pat my face with a makeup sponge to even it out. Does anyone have any tips or suggestions for applying it that might be better than what I'm doing?

-I've read that it's a little harder to remove than other makeup. What methods do you guys use? I massage some olive oil into my skin, wipe off the excess with a cotton ball and wash off the rest with a gentle facial soap, but I'm worried that I'm not getting it all and don't want to clog my pores.
    >> Anonymous 12/11/11(Sun)16:00 No.5233447
    >>5232799
You might just have enlarged, clogged pores. I thought mine were blackheads at first too, but then I realized that the oily parts of my combination skin had significantly larger pores than the rest of my face and were just getting really clogged. It's kind of like having blackheads and can CAUSE them, but they aren't quite the same because they're technically not pimples.

-Use a facial soap, toner and moisturizer for oily skin. Using just one of these products will make some difference, but I notice a huge difference in the overall appearance of my skin if I use all three faithfully. I personally recommend Clinique.

-You might need to wash your face more often than people who don't have this problem. If my skin is feeling a little oily and I'm able to wash it, I do. Unless the rest of my face needs attention, I just wet and lather up the oily areas so I don't over-strip the rest.

-Splash your face with hot water 3-5 times before you wash it. It opens your pores and makes removing all that crap easier. Rinse with cold water and run a cube of ice over the worst areas to shrink the pores, especially if you're about to put on makeup.

-It goes without saying that you shouldn't cake your makeup on if you wear it. Using gentler products for acne-prone or hypoallergenic skin seems to help, too.

-Extra: Exfoliating products for daily use are awesome. Two days out of the week, I use Olay's microderm abrasion kit instead and it also seems to help. Once a week, I use one of those pore-unclogging masks that you can get at CVS and other drug stores for a dollar. One packet tends to last me almost a month. If I want a really deep clean, I lean over a bowl/pot of steaming water for a few minutes before doing all this.

Skin stuff you have to buy separately, go to a makeup counter for that. Samples are always a good idea, Sephora is good with those and you can buy mini travel versions for a lot of stuff there.

As for actual makeup, Sephora sometimes sells tiny travel sets that have little compartments with blush, lip stuff (it sucks but w/e), and eyeshadows. The eyeshadow and blush are pretty good, I think.

I'd suggest a naked palette more than anything though. Urban Decay seems to get most attention from theirs, but I like Two Faced too. It's only eyeshadows but it sometimes comes with eyeliner, and I think that's pretty good.

Only buy cheaper mascaras from drugstores, I haven't found any expensive ones that are truly worth the extra price.

Pencil eyeliner is the easiest to use for a beginner, gel and liquid require a much more steady hand and practice to apply. For foundation, you're probably going to want to try out samples, it'd be difficult to determine what matches your skin tone best on the internet. Your skin type is going to affect which type of foundation you use too.

Keep in mind, I don't wear the makeup out, I just practice with it in my room.

But, I mean, today I got nervous and bought green primer. I don't even know why.

I have been using a liquid eye liner, and I think I've pretty much got it down. Could use more practice, but it's acceptable. But it sucks. It gets streaky and flakes off. I feel like that's the quality of the liner more so than my ability to apply it.

Maybe someone could tell me what brand to buy or make me a list of products?

Honestly, go to a Sephora store and have someone who knows what they're talking about help you. Not only did I get help with my insane redness, I got makeup that helps my skin and is actually a great shade for me. (I'm pale - I always bought the "lightest shade" too, in reality I needed more of a peachy tone to address my skin issues, something I never thought about)

tooth discoloring can also happen from the glue used on braces (although maybe not anymore?...oldfag here). also i grew up drinking well water that wasn't fluoridated...so my dentist had me taking fluoride pills. they stained my front teeth pretty badly and nothing can fix that. i brush a lot and use whitening toothpaste and strips....nothing has ever helped. it's kind of sad because i have bigger front teeth and am sometimes afraid to smile lest i look horse-y.

I once found this really good blog with some girl who had really long hair. She wrote a whole lot of stuff about basic haircare and it was really good. Made a lot of sense instead of expensive products! Think she had a motto about "practical hair care" or something. I lost the link but the name of the blog was something somthing bell tower something. Anyone know that one? I totally want the link again

Everyone who is complaining of acne, go on the contraceptive pill, but make sure you tell your doctor this is why you want to go on it. In some of the cheaper brands the hormones are derived from male hormones, which can make your acne worse. And they'll try and prescribe you the cheap ones if you don't tell them you want it for acne.
This is about the only major change you can make, skin quality is controlled by hormones your diet (Unless you're eating exclusively food filled with hormones.) Is going to have no bearing on the quality of your skin. Drinking more water is a myth.

    Oh, that's a shame.
I actually get the same thing that you're describing all over my forehead, but I usually wear a fringe so never really noticeable.
For me it's never really an issue since they're hidden away, but I know they're there so I'm always picking at them absent mindedly.

One week, I decided I didn't want to any more, you want to know how I got rid of them? I stopped touching my face altogether. That's it really.

You need to stop picking them, even when you don't notice you're about to do it.
When I stopped, mine cleared away within 2 weeks. At the time I also began drinking green tea regularly so it could have also been due my increase in fluids.

    Stop touching dat face gurl.

i miss my fringe for this reason ahah

i tried not touching them but it also didn't work, they're just there, permanently, and they don't even change, they're always the samefag pores

but for the love of god I WILL TRY, thank you

btw how do you call them? are they pimples? acne? white pores? wtf are they
    >> Hermit 12/13/11(Tue)09:24 No.5240455
    >>5240453

I haven't got a clue, but I just always presumed they were black heads.

The little translucent white tail things with a dot of black on the top right? Or the little minuscule fluid filled bubbly things that make a distinctly small *pop* when you get them?
I get both of thee when I start to touch my face.

I think it really is a case of just having to wait it out. It's not pleasant, but it'll help you in the long run.
    >> Anonymous 12/13/11(Tue)09:30 No.5240459
    >>5240455
I don't have the black point at the end, maybe i don't see it because they're so tiny, but i do get the long white tail thingy, but again it's like very tiny (sometimes longer when they're deeper but it must be from one of the hardcore resident ones, the new ones i get are usually microscopic)

i know i shouldn't even worry about this because there are loads of people with serious acne problems but really it's the only thing keeping me from having a flawless skin and i want them GONE

and if it means i have to tie myself up in complex shibari for 2 weeks i will, knowing you're by my side *^^*

Yeah, it's difficult but you just have to do it.
Like extreme dieting, where you want to pasta so bad, so, so bad and you can't stop thinking about how happy you'll be if you can just eat the pasta.. but it pays when you don't eat the pasta and lose 7lbs instead :3

There are obviously a few other things you can employ, such as cocoa butter moisturiser, vitamin E supplements. I have a derma roller that I use which I cannot praise enough for what's it's done for my own oily/dry skin and unsavoury scars relating to sudden weight gain (we're not allowed to say the S word).

Anyone have any solutions to getting rid of scars/stretchmarks? Tempted to try those things on commercials but I don't want to risk it, especially over the phone. Homemade remedies would be best.

I had stretch marks back when I started middle school and god, it was so bad because they were NEVER exposed to the sun (Wore a lot of pants). I tried using cocoa butter cream for a while and it slightly worked but I started tanning in the morning and continued massaging the areas and it worked. Sure they're still there but they slightly faded a little and it's barely noticeable unless you look closely. It takes YEARS to get rid of them I swear but doing nothing won't benefit anything.

Tried using goats milk soap and a exfoliating glove? I keep having mosquito bites (It's summer here) and my legs look ravaged. And stop picking at your legs. Jesus.

I do conditioner only washes with V05 kiwi lime squeeze. It doesn't have silicone in it so it doesn't build up as much. If I start noticing some greasiness I use a small amount (dime sized or even less) of sulfate free shampoo on those areas. I also use sulfate free shampoo on the top of my head and bangs every wash.

I take a ton of it (the bottles are 1 dollar so I don't skimp on it) and just get it all up near my scalp and comb through it and scrub/massage for about 3 minutes. Then I let it sit for about 10-15 minutes and rinse it out really good. I probably rinse for 5 minutes or so to make sure it's all out.

Most importantly, after I shower I squeeze as much water as I can out and then flip my hair over and gentle squeeze it with a towel. I put a towel around my shoulders and let it air dry. I wash my hair every 4-5 days or so and even then it still doesn't look greasy.

I've only been doing it for about 3 months but my hair has already improved a ton. I used to have frizzy hair that would become a bitch after flat ironing it but it's pretty tame now. I just bought FHI hot sauce but haven't tried it yet but it's a silicone free heat protectant so I'll see how that goes

Stop talking about stuff you know nothing about.

    >There was a lot of interesting discussion on this topic in our Forum, but the quick answer is that the no-poo shampoo method does actually clean hair. But instead of high foaming detergents, it just uses the emulsifying surfactants used in hair conditioner to do the cleaning. This means it won’t be as stripping and your hair won’t “feel” as clean.

I use ethiopian black soap and I have seen a big difference with my adult acne. Most soaps dry out my skin and make it all red, but this one works for me. It looks like a cake of sod, doesn't smell like anything special (mine's unscented), but it's awesome. I guess there's a lot of shea butter in there.
    >> Tips Anonymous 12/14/11(Wed)12:01 No.5245787
~ DO NOT USE Johnson & Johnson baby shampoo, it strips your hair and leave it on long enough can burn it. Several hair dressers have told me this.

~ Oatmeal, plain dry oatmeal in a bag. Grab a handful, wet it enough to make a paste and wash your face in it. Godly stuff, I even bathe with it.

~ Rinse hair with half a cup white vinegar half water a couple times a week.

    ~ DONT TOUCH YOUR FACE!

~ DONT PICK AT YOUR SKIN! This was hard as fuck at first for me but my skin had cleared up so much.

~ Change your pillow case daily or sleep on a towel but change it.

~ Don't use a wash cloth unless you use a fresh one each time, same with the towel you use to dry your face.

~ Wash your body after you use shampoo and conditioner.

~ Buy an organic shampoo like Jason. You don't need any of those damn sulfates.

No tips for scabs really, and I'm surprised no one has said this yet, but I pop my pimples and clean them out with hydrogen peroxide. I make sure my face is clean, and whatever I'm using to pop said pimple is clean (if it's tweezers or something, use alcohol; if you're using your nails, make sure you scrub underneath them very well as a LOT of bacteria accumulates underneath them), and then pour a bit of hydrogen peroxide in the lid (as to not waste it) and dip a clean Q-tip in it and clean the pus off the surface of the skin. I then continue to squeeze out the rest of the pus until some blood comes out, and I clean that with more hydrogen peroxide except with the other end of the Q-tip so I don't spread the bacteria around. After that, I either get a new Q-tip or a piece of toilet paper/tissue and hold it on the pimple to stop the bleeding. This also helps with getting a minimal scab. I've never had scarring from this, and they heal rather nicely. I suggest not to pick at scabs though, especially repeatedly, as it most likely will cause scarring.

I do this too, shit works. If you let leftover pus\grease scab in, you make things worse. When you have to cut your losses, sterilize the fuck out of the pimple.
    >> Anonymous 12/14/11(Wed)13:38 No.5246045
if you use chapstick on a wound it will stop the bleeding much quicker (the chapstick acts like the platelets in your blood, which gather to form scabs. basically the chapstick makes your blood cells stick together and scab.)

especially useful in case you pick a zit at work/school or right before you need to leave.

obviously, though, chapstick can clog pores, so be careful with it and do your best to wipe it off the surrounding area.

I've never heard of this before, actually. Interesting. Like >>5245995 said though, if you let leftover pus/grease scab in, it makes things worse. But if it works for you, that's great. Everyone has different skin types. I have pretty sensitive skin though, so it seems like something my skin would bitch about.

No idea if you will see this, but my god, Bobbi Brown Long Wear Gel Liner is THE BEST LINER EVER. A bit expensive, but srsly, this will not come off. You need their brand of remover to get it off it's so tough. It doesn't smudge on me and doesn't do that annoying thing where it cracks in the corners of my eyelid and looks like I couldn't be bothered to fill it all in. Goes on like a treat and is fast drying. Comes in many colours too.
    GO GO GO.

No the person you were replying to, but goodness, that's expensive (at least for a poor student like me). Especially because it's in pounds, and it doesn't look like it comes with the brush either.

I can't remember all the details but every hair stylist I've spoken to is dead against using it. I figured since it was for babies that it must be super gentle.

Something about it having too much alkaline for adult hair, especially color-treated hair but its great to wash your make-up brushes in.
