What's the deal with g+. Is it worth getting? Do any of you even use it? Wondering if I should bother getting it. It seems like the same thing as facebook just with a prettier layout.

I use my g+ more than facebook. The only reason I still have my facebook is for real life connections. My cgl circle is really active, and imo g+ is funner with the more people you add.

I just realized I rarely add people back. Oh well.

Also, I don't think you need invites to google+ any more.

That beta thing ended like 2 months ago. Pretty sure, might be wrong.

Most of the time in the evening we have /cgl/ G+ Hangouts where you can join in with your mic or webcam, it's really fun.

Even more so with the new moustache feature they put onto the video chat.

I just started using g+ and I'd like to get to know other seagulls. P-Please be my friend.

Also, you can limit who you want to see your posts, like if you only want your /cgl/ circle to see something, make sure you set it in your post options. It's really good for sharing stuff with people, without other people seeing it!

I have a google+ but never use it. I figured I'd use it more for my cosplay than my fb as friend/family don't need to be seeing constant stuff about my hobby. I haven't started yet due to the learning curve as another anon said. That and I have 1 cosplay friend. So... I'd like to branch out a bit more. I'm going to play my little violin here. While I'm an easy going person making friends has always been a struggle for me.

For those of you using google+ do you find it's connecting you better with people through this hobby? I'd like to get more involved with knowing community as I'm finding that my interactions w/ cos.com is disappointing. Granted, we all know that people jump from here to there. I thought that cos.com would have been the place to meet and know people. I guess I'm naive.

I've been able to connect more with some seagulls through the hangouts and just commenting on people's stuff. Just don't be shy, if you see a hangout, go in one (even if you don't have a webcam). If you like something that someone's posted, say so! And of course don't be afraid to post something introducing yourself and asking what cons people are going to or what they're working on :)
