the Sorry ribbons is a bunch of BS. He pulled that last year, too. And
the year before that. He's not the one running the AA, he's running the
entire Con. The person running the AA is new (not the same person as the
last 5 years; worked for Fanime) and busy with school, and so far has
been very distracted and dismissive with her replies to artists with
concerns. The AA room wasn't that small. It was the third largest
room in the entire ballroom level. And guess what? The move to the
LOBBY level, away from the convention, gave us a whopping 6 more tables.
With the half-table only policy, that gives 12 more artists!
yaaaaaay... So we're in a bigger room with a few more tables, away from
the main flow of traffic. I hope those 12 artists are happy, because the
other 60 won't be. The problem with the lottery policy is they
implemented it too late into the year, they went on some big whine-fest
about fairness and transparency and all the while they just pissed off
more people. Do we get more new people this year? Yeah, and that's nice
and all that, but they've spent the last few years chasing away some
big-draw (haha pun) veterans with some of their rules, and like it's
been said already in this thread, they're chasing away a lot of other
ones with their new rules. What's more is it puts a huge damper on
collaborative artists, because one partner has gotten a spot but the
other didn't. So now what do they do? The ideal situation would
be a hybrid system, EARLIER IN THE YEAR. Those 6 new tables and the new
room and the new layout are what delayed registration and information
this long, on top of the staff not managing their time very well.
