Cosplay.com rumor has it that AUSA is going to the place across from the Gaylord and no. Fuck. No.

One, this turns it into Katsucon Light -- same area, worse programming, hotel, shit to buy, and costuming. Why would they do this to themselves? It invites a comparison that will just look AUSA look like crap. On a similar note, there are going to be a bunch of people taking pictures at the Gaylord because it's prettier, which I can't imagine the Gaylord will appreciate. While we're on the "Katsucon Light" problem of the move, if I were a Katsu manager I would rage like the wind.

Two, way to dick over all the commuters that do AUSA on the cheap because it is just a good place to hang out with nerds. Getting to National Harbor by public transit is almost impossible (there is one bus) and driving there is obnoxious because it's in the middle of motherfucking nowhere. Also, parking is expensive and the food is expensive. I can tolerate driving out to National Harbor for the Gaylord and Katsu, but for the backyard barbecue that is AUSA? Heeeeeeeeell no!

Yes, the Hyatt is getting too small. But don't go to National Harbor, you schmucks. There are so many hotels in DC proper and in NoVA (staying in the Crystal City area, back to Rosslyn, up to Ballston) that are probably better than holding your convention at Katsucon's overflow hotel.

That Grell is also one of the GMs for the LARP. Also really cool -stayed in character surprisingly consistently. In-character had a fight between Junpei (me) and Grell which was epic.

I made the HUGE mistake of deciding we should all eat at that hibachi place closeby saturday night. I made reservations and everything since it was packed years prior.

Yes, I do have flash. Problem is that I have a habit of not using it to conserve battery power. I rather use natural light as much as possible, and use auto ISO for areas with less light. I use flash photography as little as possible.

The key to flash is that when natural light is unavailable, you use it! This is especially true of night and low-lit areas. Then when your battery runs out... you charge it!

- The Zoo (especially the outdoor bird section and the super-leafy Asian exhibit, anyway; the rest of the zoo is ghetto)
- The FDR and Jefferson Memorials (fuck you Hetalia cosplayers at war memorials, I will gut you)
- The Air and Space Museum (especially for any mecha series, Strike Witches, Hetalia, Midnight Navy. The lighting sucks tho)
- The Arboretum
- The Botanical Gardens' conservatory (this place is cramped and explicitly bans wedding photography)

Saw it on Cosplaycom and thought it sounded familiar when I saw the photo. Had to go find it again to post.
