Yeah, it was pretty damn awful. I was cosplaying Fem!Italy from Hetalia. The costume itself wasn't bad, my mom and I sowed it ourselves, but I didn't have a wig so I dyed my hair for it, it was horrible. I was... 15? Yeah.

I binded, but in the middle of the con the binding fell off. I didn't have a bra underneath. I felt horrible...

Like, I took short cuts with the cuffs and the little triangle thing inside the sailor collar... its now impossible to put that short on without ripping something.

I was sixteen, and I was closet videl. No wig, my hair was the wrong colour... I looked retarded. Lol.

I was... 18 I think and cosplayed Ed Elric.
Me and my mom sewed the jacket and the coat and it looked actually good (coat was just a bit too big on me).
But god, lots of obvious details missing. I tried making his shoes and failed miserably, so I just used normal black ones. My black pants weren't leather and too wide and the biggest sin was probably that I used my real hair and didn't bind my boobs.
But I'm still proud I had an old suitcase like the one Edward uses while travelling.

Fifteen, Anime Boston 2008. I was Mello from Death Note. It wasn't that great, but it was definitely good considering it was my first time. My true downfall was my shitty wig choice.I bought a Hannah Montana wig from iParty and cut it to be his length.

I first cosplayed when I was the age of 19. My first costume was Kensuke Aida from the NGE series.

Haku when I was 14 or 15.

Yes, Haku from Naruto. It wasn't too terrible, but it was still pretty bad.

I did Fem!Comedian from watchmen. I was about 15 or 16 I think. Couldn't bind my chest so I just went with a gender flip. The leather skirt I used wouldn't hem so I.... I duct taped the hem up inside of it. No one could see, but I knew, /cgl/, I knew. And it still eats at me. On top of that I got a hell of a lot more male attention than I was used to and got all spergy because of it.

I recently came across of my photo wearing it on Paheal. Needless to say, i flipped my shit. You don't put a fucking 15 year old on a porn site, you guys. Even one for fictional characters.

Nine years ago at this point. I was thirteen, and my sister made me a Yuffie from FFVII costume. She was a great cosplayer and seamstress, so it looked pretty nice.
Now, the first costume I ever made MYSELF looked terrible. It was Ed Elric. I made the coat out of fleece.
So glad no pictures survive.

However, if you want to get really, REALLY technical, the first time I "cosplayed" as a character was when I was six and I was Beetlegeuse for Halloween. It was awesome.

First time i cosplayed was fanime 2008.

I was mayuri from bleach, has a friend make my hat.

Lots of people took my pics, and i even met some of the same people i thought i would have never see later on.

I was 8, I cosplayed Lime from Saber Marionette.
My grandmother helped with the costume, I made the shoes. No wig, but it wasn't that awful. Actually it was fun.

I was 13, Hinata cosplay. It was actually decent except I did not know how to put on a wig on correctly, it looked fine since my hair is black but it almost came off during con a few times.

I liked how the outfit looked, but it could of done better, with abit of weight lost and whatnot. :P but I still think it was good for my first time. xD

15 years old and the character was Haku from Naruto. I looked a hot mess. Also, while cleaning yesterday, I found the first ever costume I made myself. No lining, no hemming, crappy hand sewing. I remember being so proud of it.

I knew people went to cons dressed up but I didnt know people took photos, so i was a bit surprised when i would be stopped for a photo(It was only Death, nothing fancy). My shirt was a bit too tight, but other than that I like to think it looked decent for someone's first cosplay (it was a black shirt, pants, boots, black hair, and eyeliner, kinda hard to fuck up)

I was 14, had just heard that Otakon was going on from Anime Insider, in my favorite city in the world no less, and I'd just seen Knockin' On Heaven's Door.

I went as Janitor Spike.

I cosplayed as Jing. I was twelve at the time and it was turrrible.

16-17ish, I don't remember how old I was exactly. Konan from Naruto. It was right after they showed that there was a female member of the Akatsuki, and my group had pretty much every member covered but her. It wasn't bad but not spectacular either, but I did all of that typical obnoxious Narutard stuff, carameldansen, obsessing over plushies. Still a bit ashamed of that.

I wanted to go full on Chii/Elda or Freya, but I was just a dopey little middle schooler, so I couldn't possibly purchase myself an ankle length wig; also, I heard about the (local) con in such short notice. Still, I managed to put together a cute outfit and make my own "ears". I'm surprised at how well they turned out (sorry, I don't know where the photos are), considering that I've just started making my own costumes (I've always dressed up in costumes for plays when I was much younger, but that doesn't count).

It was pretty good. My mum and I threw it together in one week. We had no pattern that matched it, so we used a pre-existing pattern and modified it. Although in the end we used no more than the arm holes. I used good material, too so I think it look pretty nice.

I think I was 13 years old, and my first con was Ohayocon. Naruto Shippuden had just come out, so I cosplayed Sakura. My mom and I made it the night before, and it looked slightly terrible, since the circle on the back was held on by safety pins. The wig was actually pretty nice, and I had the headband, but I hadn't figured out how to wear makeup and I still had on braces. It was slightly shameful.

Although I have a lot of horrible memories about it including the costume arriving only a day before the con and they had assumed for some reason that the measurements I had given them (very clearly so that there was no confusion) were my flat measurements. It was huge and I was a horrible pinned up mess.

I was 14. Orochimaru. Shit was so terrible. So very very terrible.
Used my real hair (which was fucking longer than it should have been and a dark brown instead of black), grey sweatpants, a giant rope made out of fleece with a long piece of wire and stuffing in it for support (I wrapped thread around it to give it the appearance of a rope), the tan shirt was made from a sweater like material and was hand sewn and terrible... lol it was so bad. But, I honestly felt so crafty to pull that shit together in a night without a sewing machine and with no experience in costumes at all. I even won two contests with it. lol

Maybe one day I'll redo it since I kinda of have a thing for bad guys anyway.
