do you consider yourself a quality cosplayer? if so why?
what could you improve on if not?
    >> Anonymous 10/28/11(Fri)12:25 No.5108773
I consider myself an ok cosplayer.
need to improve on making props look less home made craft to a polished
that aside, the wings on that Dizzy cosplayer! so awesome! any more photos?
    >> Anonymous 10/28/11(Fri)12:29 No.5108776
Because I've complete at worldcons and won.
    >> Courier !HT3F39A6T6 10/28/11(Fri)12:31 No.5108778
Wow, my life is complete. I would never have the balls to cosplay Dizzy but have always wanted to make those wings because I'd never seen them done right. She got the colors perfect (it makes me cry to see so many Dizzys with white/black wings) and the faces too, which I've never seen so well done. It's wonderful.

But I consider myself an average cosplayer. There are many people a LOT better than me, but I don't think my stuff is terrible, just normal.

    In here. with this person.

I'm alright. I think I've learned quickly but I don't know everything, I'm still learning discovering new things, but that's the fun of it. It's been almost a full year since I've been working on cosplay independently and I think I've improved a lot on a lot of things. Not everything is visible but where it counts I've stepped up.

    Still more to learn.

As on what to improve. Mostly it's the prop field. I think my sewing is good. I'm getting better at building things and making stuff look neat and clean.
    >> Anonymous 10/28/11(Fri)13:02 No.5108805
I've thought for years that I'm average until I came to the conclusion that my cosplays were better than most for being a diy cosplayer type (I don't count the few spoiled rich kids that bought perfect shit from professional taylors/propmakers).

So I would say that I'm in a top tier category. I will consider myself god tier the day I have a personal photographer that photoshops the shit out of my pictures like the god tier cosplayers photos.
    >> Anonymous 10/28/11(Fri)13:07 No.5108812
Average/mediocre. I put a good amount of effort into my cosplays (wigs, makeup, quality fabric, HEMMING MY SHIT, etc), but I'm by no means amazing. I choose fairly simple cosplays, anyway. There's way better cosplayers out there than me.

I would consider myself an average costumer. I can sew just fine, but I don't trust myself when it comes to difficult pattern modifications and ESPECIALLY not to making something nicely fitted. But I do have high standards for my costumes and pride myself on accuracy, so basically all my best costumes are a combined effort of a talented seamstress and my own work. But I'm content with doing things this way, because ultimately for me it's about doing the character the best I can and enjoying it, not about competing or challenging myself.

The only downside is that this means I'll probably never reach my dream costumes (real armor/prop intensive sorta stuff). In fact I don't think I'll ever have any real IMPRESSIVE costumes in general.

so I'd say perhaps I'm a good cosplayer, but not a great one.

    shit tier WHOOPS.
i don't have a sewing machine yet due to constantly moving around for studies (two countries in four years, moved house at least once a year) so i've been handstitching very very simple cosplays thus far, and my early cosplays were mostly thrift-shop stuff.

also since i'm from asia i sometimes buy secondhand cosplays from other cosplayers back home, so people tend to think i'm a better cosplayer than i actually am lol. i'm not ugly so that helped a bit i suppose.

so basically, i can only sew very basic stuff, ok to decent with wig styling, only just started working with armour. lots to work on....

i think im ok my friends always tell me im amazing and such but i think i still have a long way to go, i have learned a lot though in 2 years and learn pretty fast
I need to really start learning how to do props and style wigs though

I still consider myself a newbie at cosplay.
Even though I've been cosplaying for a good two years now, at the beginning I only bought my cosplays, and stuck to easy tier uniform cosplays. However now I'm learning to make them on my own, and learning new make up tricks. I still have a lot to learn sewing wise, and making patterns/using patterns.

When it comes to the little details like patterns, colors, and little accessories I'd say I'm good.
When it comes to the big picture though, I still have a lot to learn.

Now see, I'm dead between mid-tier and top-tier. I'm an okay sewer but a good prop maker. I always use a wig and work hard on my makeup, but my body isn't always perfect for a cosplay. I don't use any purchased items (except maybe an undershirt). I do my best to take good photos/get good photos taken with no photoshop, but I don't know anyone who does photography so I'm usually doing my own work with a lot of timer work, ug.
    >> Anonymous 10/28/11(Fri)15:09 No.5109035
I would be top tier but i don't sew, so everyting is done by a seamstress from scratch or slighty modified (I never buy costumes). Still I try to choose prop-only characters, I love making armours and props, so challenging!
    >> Anonymous 10/28/11(Fri)15:27 No.5109067
Between top tier and god tier, but I don't know how to use Photoshop, so none of my pics are ever shooped unless someone else does it.

I just don't care that much.

This is absolutely retarded, focuses too much on personal appearance and photos rather than legit craftsmanship skill. Shooped photos = god tier? Full retard.

    This.
I also don't see why wearing contacts is on the list. I physically can't wear contacts as my eyes are too sensitive. If the color really makes that big of a different I'll just shoop it in.
    >> Anonymous 10/28/11(Fri)16:25 No.5109211
    >God tier costumes with nonexistent photographer.

Fucking fuck, if I had a photographer that did nice work and lived within 3 hours of me, I'd be set. I can shoop my pics just fine. Otherwise, it's mostly who I can track down and make arrangements with for a photoshoot while at a con.

I'm mediocre. I need to improve on a lot of things but I won't. I just don't care enough about this shit to try harder than just what is needed to not make it into the "bad" cosplay list. And even if I did end up there I still wouldn't care. I'd rather spend most of my money on video games and college courses.

tl;dr I'm mediocre cause I'm lazy and would rather spend my money on other stuff.
    >> Anonymous 10/28/11(Fri)18:28 No.5109566
I feel I'm a good cosplayer, but everyone one on here disagrees. Also I don't really care if your good or bad,I think if you but effort and heart into it ,it will turn out good.
