I'd love to go to Japan, but then again I'd love to go to Russia, Germany, Central America, India, and visit all sorts of different cultures (and eat all kinds of weird cultural foods!). I wouldn't say Japan ranks any higher on the list because of cosplay or anime, knowing that in Japan that subculture is strongly frowned upon. Plus a trip to Japan would probably be the most expensive of the list.

Of course I would frequent the different geeky stores but also experience the more general cultural stuff.

I'd mostly want to buy clothes there, be a tourist and visit all of Japan's best gardens. Although I'm really, really tempted to go to a butler cafe just to see what it's like.

Been there. Was pretty neat, but was on the way to Guam so we only stuck around for two days and didn't leave Tokyo. I'd definitely go again for longer, but it would be better if I had a traveling companion who knew at least a little Japanese.

I would love to check the tourustic places and I actually believe the story of the ancient japan is fascinating, especially all of the martial arts they developed. That and all the tech they have over there, gadjets, videogames and electronics in general, hnnnnng....

I want to go to Japan. Keep your "Glorious nippon nya~" to yourself. I'd love to sit in an oldass buddhist temple, working by candlelight, going through dusty old records about the Heian courts. I'm a historyfag and Japan's got one of the coolest histories.
All of the nerdy shit is nice to a point. But I'd rather be in that dustyass records room or in a top of the line neuroscience lab working on an international project than buying manga in Japanese from a convenience store.

I want to go for a few days, mostly to check out the themed cafes, do some fashion shopping, and then spend the rest of the time going to concerts for bands I like. Also want to stop by the Suicide Forest and see if I can find a corpse.

Been to Japan. Did homestay rather than really touristy stuff so I got to experience what it's like to actually live there, go to school and all that stuff. And hell yes I'd do it again, because I love Japan as a culture and I love how they run things. Yeah, I'd go for buying a lot of anime/manga related stuff, but it wouldn't be the only thing I'd be doing.
