I know anime is not "omg soooo underground"

Just find it surprising it's known well enough to have a skit on SNL.

    Yes, yes they have
    and they mad
The thread I saw was all complaints about how it's completely inaccurate and offensive
    >> Anonymous 10/17/11(Mon)03:09 No.5073357
It needed more. I can't pin it.

Hopefully the writers cover more of the fandom. Considering the amount of idiots and psycho's, they could make skits along the lines of Waynes World and Goth Talk. 4chan's tripfaggots alone could fill two skits!!

I'm surprised of all the anime they could have referenced they picked Candy Candy. The writer of this skit is probably an anime fan with a huge powerlevel.

"Cherry Cherry" should've gone psycho on "Sensei Mark" with his straight laced commentary. She almost typified a deviantArt user to a T, short of the DMCA takedown threats for her "OC".

I was really hoping this would be funny, because I think everyone has met that type of fan before, but SNL can't write actual comedy to save their lives. How the fuck is this shit show still on the air?
    >> Anonymous 10/17/11(Mon)03:35 No.5073415
Pixyteri was clearly the inspiration for this.

I KNOW RIGHT?! They said Kyandi and i was like "whoa holy shit...this skit just got better!"

I thought this was funny as shit.... I had a teacher like this, he always did a face palm when he would ask "Any Questions before the test?" and someone would say "OH, OH! SENSEI! What does Sasuke mean?!" Grented...if we came to class in cosplay(like...once a month) we would get 10% extra credit...i thought that was kinda cool

It's currently NBC's highest-rated scripted show. It's had a bit of a renaissance in the last 5-6 years.

The members of my old college's anime club crying about how they hate SNL on Facebook is delicious. These people are pretty sane so I don't understand why they find it offensive, but it's still hilarious.

    Yes.
    Exactly that
    >> Anonymous 10/17/11(Mon)06:34 No.5073781
They may be making fun of weeaboos, but your typical American viewer for this show just thinks this is what all anime fans are like. Those of us who are sane have to work really hard just to prove we aren't foaming-at-the-mouth retards.

Having high ratings =/= Any actual artistic value or merit from the writing, which is severely awful these days. I've heard people say that it's gotten better now, because I stopped enjoying the show when Jimmy Fallon and Tina Fey were headlining the series. My family watches the show and every time I end up sitting in on it I just cringe; I honestly think it's somehow even worse now.

Too funny. Too perfect. Too true.

I wish I watched it when it was on, but I don't mind Hulu'ing either.

You're probably not old enough to remember when it was underground.

I do. And it saddens me that anime has gone so mainstream that SNL recognizes it as a thing now.

It was definitely intentional, the girl in the Sailor scout outfit's song matched up with the original theme for the anime.
