Yeah, I saw that.

The Madoka cosplay was sufficient. There was at least one of every girl, with two Madokas, two Mamis (three if you count the Papi), two Homuras, plus a Kyubey and a Charlotte. I felt like going to see that was a good use of time.

This is the second NYCC I've been to. I really don't know why I keep going, I'm always going alone and it's just extraordinarily depressing every time. It's actually a really cool convention, and there are some cool costumes and people. But it's just impossible to enjoy it by yourself, and seeing literally every other person in someone else's company makes that worse. I really should try to talk to people or something but I can't even work up the nerve to ask to take someones picture sometimes, even when I really like their costumes. I go alone, I leave alone, and still come back for some reason.

I'm just gonna stay home tomorrow and not bother.

I'd post a pic I took from the con as penance for bitching and moaning, but unfortunately every pic I took came out way too blurry, even of the costumes I really liked.

There were a lot of cool, well done costumes and of course sites like Kotaku post the WORST ones lending to a bunch of dumbass comments like "White people can't cosplay" and "NY sucks at cosplay." I'll post some pics tomorrow when I'm not tired.

It might be a comic/gaming/anime con, but it doesn't change the fact that it's new york, and everything about this city radiates loneliness and isolation. It's crappy. PS: want companionship at a convention? Go to Otakon or Anime North - those are the all-around best conventions I've ever seen for meeting new people.

and, well, I hate to say waht most people are thinking, but NYCC really just... isn't that great. I've been going to gaming/anime cons for 10+ years now, and this is easily the least fun convention I've been to. I'd much rather go to Animazement or Otakon.

So, after nicely letting me take his picture, this Kubey (sp?) asked me to sign a contract (for fun) and I wished to have a fun con, since I wasn't having a nice time when i first got there. Right after that. everyone started recognizing my character, I won a raffle, and got free stuff. So I guess my wish really came true~~~ So now I await for for this dude to break through my window, take my soul and make me a magical girl.

Stony Brook University is way too far out on the island for public transport (realistically), and I don't have a car, so that's not a very good option for me.

Up your shutter speed and open up your aperture.
Or if you're using a shitty point and shoot, switch to the "athletic" or "kids/pets" mode, should have higher shutterspeeds in those settings.

Also take pictures with both your hands to steady the camera, even look thought the viewfinder instead of the screen to keep it steady against your head (closer to your body, less arm gitters)

I also find my hand is the steadiest when I exhale. Time your shots. It's also a good idea to try to take more than one of the same shot, that way if one is fucked up by a bump or a shaky hand, another will be less so. In your downtime you can go through the pics, zoom in to see which is the shittiest in terms of blur, and delete them to free up more memory space.
