Yeah, I think so. It's largely a culture thing. We've got that honor stuff still ingrained into us to a certain degree, which is probably exacerbated by the fact that older generations are still quite conservative as a whole, so sleeping around doesn't bode well for anyone. That and Asian culture is inherently a bit sexist, but I want to say it's because it's more practical that way. Family life ad living responsibilities become more manageable when you've got one person doing one thing (going out, getting money) and one person doing another (tending to the kids and taking care of the house). Asian women are more subservient because it helps keep the household functioning smoothly.

Apparently it's kind of changing in China and Korea, though. Women are allowed to be more demanding because the increased quality of life is making affluence more common, allowing them to pick and choose and develop more stringent standards for potential mates. Sort of. I was born here, so I have a slightly more liberal stance toward how women should act and behave. As long as you aren't hurting anyone, you should be able to do whatever you want. Slutwalks are kind of a counter-intuitive way of fighting rape culture, but in general, I agree with what they're trying to say. The stereotype isn't the issue. It's when people step outside of the stereotype and suffer for it. I recently started using that word in a non-degrading manner, among the right crowd of course, to refer to myself or other women. When you start using the word in a positive way, you find that when others try to use it to insult you, it hurts a lot less.
