The difference is that LI is a nobody and isn't popular. PL is an internationally known cosplayer with a huge fanbase. Her getting a lot of votes is a LOT more understandable than just some dude flexing abs. It is a lot more unlikely that random dude is getting more votes than well known cosplayer.

PL is only in the finals because of the popularity, that's it. I had cosplays that I wanted to see make it into the finals (that were much grander in design and execution) than PL's cosplay. There are also cosplayers in the finals that I'd rather see win than PL or LI. Not because I have some obscure vendetta, but because I think their cosplays are much more comlex and better executed. Why does her being around longer suddenly merit her a win? In the grande scheme it's not as big a deal as people are making it out to be.
They're both networking sluts and they deserve each other.

Yes chainmail is time consuming. It isn't expensive though. But how many people do you see actually coiling, cutting, patterning, and linking their own chainmail for cosplay? I don't know of any, really.

She may not be the "only one" able to do these things, but in this contest, she is the only one to have it. Yes other cosplayers have some good stuff, that is why they are Finalists, but if you actually look at the details and the over all picture, they are not at the same level.

The contest is being judged on likeness, craft, being able to portray different characters, and looking at how different the cosplayer is out of costume. PL has some of the best examples in all of those categories. That is my personal opinion, and I understand you may think otherwise.

But this thread is just comparing Living Ichigo and Pikminlink, and I'm sorry but Pikminlink outshines Living Ichigo like a supernova. That is why people have LI in suspicion.

I already asked him about it directly on the OH page, and he deleted my post. It was a long post about using patterns, seam finishes, seam allowances, etc...AKA, proper sewing techniques.

Also, he's feeding the fabric into the machine the wrong way in that first picture (seam allowance marks are on the right of the pressure foot...) and at that, why would he be sewing a piece he already, according to his "tutorial" (which isn't a tutorial at all), sewed (said he weathered it after sewing...)

The part where he talks about making the sword, he starts with a generic piece of wood, and then shows the generic tool he supposedly used to make it. Implying that these were his actual shots. Why are they all blocky and grainy as fuck compared to the rest of his photos? Why would he suddenly decide that a lower grade photo would be passable for these two steps only? Then when he magically has a finished product, the hilt looks like it had been taken off already, because you see a but of the glue in the top corner of the hilt hole. . . So further suspicion that he just ripped it off and made it look like he was putting it together. Yet he somehow forgot the step between cutting and shaping the wood, to having finished product. Where is the unpainted phase where he has to sand all the cuts he made to the wood? And again, assuming that the materials shown were his own, how did he get that round dowel type piece of wood to magically become WIDER to look like his finished product? How did he so precisely make it the oval shape it is without even a single error? I thought this was his first attempt at making it? Says he slapped it together with wood filler, glue, and paint. None of those things are liquid nails. Seems that he must have just slipped and meant to say that right?

Now for the mask. . . He says he had help with a friend that made it out of fiberglass? Then why is that a box of plaster of paris behind his supposed mask in progress? That's not fiberglass. That's goddamn plaster. Why are the pictures of the finished mask such a different shape from the progress one? Why are the "finished" pictures so shooped? In the last picture, the horns don't line up quite right with the rest of it, yet in his whole costume picture, they're just fine. . .

So yeah, a few more things to think about. tl;dr plotholes all up in this bitch. Question everything.
