344 KB Anime Club Help Anonymous 10/09/11(Sun)17:46 No.5047783
I'm starting an anime club at my college (tomorrow actually) and I really need help and advice on things to do and avoid.

I'm planning on starting the thing off with watching an episode or three of anime we choose and then possibly doing some sort of game. We'll be there from 2PM to 5 PM.

Pic related because its the anime we'll be watching

As a leader, you will have to be able to control a bunch of retards. Don't be afraid to raise your voice and be firm. Don't be a bitch, don't yell. Say things like "guys, we need to focus, on to the next anime".

Also, ice breakers are fun, but have something not so intimidating for anime nerds.

Advertising is key. Chalk, posters, websites, newspaper, etcetcetc. Just don't break any conducts or policies doing so.

FOOD IS IMPORTANT EVERYONE LOVES FOOD

Uhm, those are things I think of atm. I'm president of my residence hall, if that gives me credit.

    Good luck OP!

Thank you very much! I'm a very shy girl who just started to show my power level (last time I did at the school this guy reading yaoi hit on me) It was kind of traumatizing...

What sort of ice breakers would you recommend?

    Me again

Get yourself an exec team and work together with them. It helps when you don't have to do everything on your own. Also, an advisor who can help out is good, too. They don't really do much besides helping with the constitution or whatnot. At least to my knowledge (it's different between halls and actual organizations on campus).

One of my favs is called the Great Winds blow...
    See this

    >The Great Wind Blows

    >This is a fast paced icebreaker that gets student moving and laughing. Arrange a circle of chairs. Ask each student to sit in one of the chairs (have an exact number). Tell students that if they agree with your next statement, they should stand up and move to another chair. Stand in the center of the circle and say: "My name is ___________ and the great wind blows for everybody who...." (choose an ending that would likely apply to nearly everyone in the class, such as "likes chocolate ice cream." At this point, everyone who likes chocolate ice cream gets up and runs to another empty chair. As the students move, make sure you occupy one of the empty seats. If you do, then one students will have no seat to occupy and will replace you in the center. Have the new person in the center finish the same incomplete sentence. Play the gave as often as it seems appropriate.

    >*This can be adapted by using the phrase "I've got mail for....anyone who likes chocolate ice cream" instead of "The Great Wind Blows."

Pretty much its easy to get to know people and what people like/dislike. Also, we have done a circle with people taking off their shoes. Easier than chairs. And can be done with Never Have I Ever. But Never Have I Ever gets dirty pretty quickly.

One key I remember when speaking in front of people is that I have to act retarded and just roll with it. You can't stress about what to say or how you look, just roll with it. People will be rude, people will make fun of you, but they don't matter. If you let it not bother you, then no one will care. They'll think you're awesome. But you gotta act like you're awesome.

    I hope that makes sense...

Long time fan of that series. Wish ADV would have finished out the manga since there was only a couple of volumes left.

I'll never know the end. Makes me depressed.

Oh god I know, I almost ragequit re reading the series but its really good. Second season of the anime is all wtf generic animu failure which makes me sad.

I don't think I can put out on the snack side which really really sucks.
