Hi! Any tips for a noob cosplayer? I've never been to a convention before. I heard that it's bad to wear the same costume for the entire weekend? Tips like this would be appreciated

That pic freaks the fuck out of my mind.

I personally only wear a costume for one day normally but if you are proud of it why the fuck should you not wear t the whole weekend.

Most people just associate wearing it days in a row that your costume will become sweaty, pick up smells, possibly dirty etc.,
but if you can manage to keep it clean and odor-free, people shouldn't have a problem

I've only been to one convention so far, and I didn't cosplay, but to be honest I don't think anyone would seriously care if you wore the same costume two nights in a row.

The biggest advice I can give for conventions is be outgoing, chat to people after all everyone is going there for the same reason most of the time.

There is a britfag cosplayer ... I have decided to name him Hobo Naruto as I think for the last 6 - 8 cons (about a year) I have seen him in the same tired Naruto costume with free hugs attached to the back .. it looks unwashed .. I refuse to go near him.

Not OP, but is it okay to find a really simply character to cosplay and just buy ordinary clothes that look pretty much identical to the character, since they're so simple in the first place?
    >> Anonymous 10/07/11(Fri)09:10 No.5042571
If you're planning on wearing the same costume all weekend, when you take it off at the end of the day, febreeze it, and hang it up somewhere you can air it out. A balcony works really well for this, but if you don't have one, just hang it in the room somewhere, and it should still air out enough to rewear it. Also, bring something like a Tide-to-go stick to get rid of any stains that may accumulate over the weekend.
As long as you're clean and don't smell, wearing the same costume is totally acceptable.

Sure, but it's unlikely anyone would recognise such a simple character. If you're fine with that, go for it!
Of course the most accurate thing would be to make them yourself anyway so they're 100% accurate, and some people do think this is the only way to cosplay right. They're in the minority by far, though.
Personally I'd rather see a nice, simple, accurate-ish closet-cosplay than someone who bought a cheap, shiny, ill-fitting satinmonster from eBay, but that's just me.

    Febreeze for your outfit.

    Regular showering for yourself.

I showered like 5 or 6 times at Fanime. So, you need to do it AT LEAST once a day. It's not difficult.
