    Ok, hypothetical situation time /cgl/

You're at a con, walking around looking at all the cosplayers, when you see a really good cosplay. Maybe the person is really accurate, maybe cosplaying a series you don't see very often, maybe they're just hot, but for whatever reason they're really good and you want a picture. But they're with their best friend, which as nice as it is for two friends to be hanging out at the con, the friend is the exact opposite, hideously ugly and wearing a horribly made costume that clearly doesn't suit them.

You want to take a picture of the good cosplayer but not the bad cosplayer, so what do you do? Do you walk over and blatantly ask only for the picture of the one you like? Do you just suck it up and get a picture of both of them?

I've only been to a few cons and I never had a camera with me but I've always just kinda wondered what the standard protocol is for this. And also if any anons have any stories about this sort of thing.

    >Ask for pic of both of them together
    >Ask for separate shot of them both
    >Delete picture of shitty cosplayer afterwards

    It's really very simple, OP.

That was kinda what I was thinking, but that would only work if you were using a digital camera wouldn't it?

You mean you don't use a digital camera?

If you were using your cell phone, it'd be fine too.

Well I don't have a camera, this is all hypothetical. If I did it would probably be digital, but if it wasn't then I wouldn't expect that to work.

It if was two guys I wouldn't really mind but well if it was girls, eww, I can't stand ugly girls because although I'm not the best looking, a simple bit a make up and stuff makes me at least look presentable. So yeah, if they were really hideous I would ask for the one persons picture if they were a girl. But I would take the picture of both guys otherwise.

So how do you ask for just the one person's picture? What if the other person gets in close for the picture or something, do you wave your hand and shout NO NOT YOU or something?

I'm wondering how one would do it without hurting the person they didn't want the picture of, or if that' s even possible.

When I was at Megacon this past year, my friend and I often got pulled apart for different photos; didn't bother neither of us, but both of us were in the same anime, but ofc different characters.

So honestly, it depends. If the friend asks "Can my friend join?" Usually you would be like yes c you feel bad, but I always ingore and say no :3 I didnt ask them~

but then again, i r a bitch. Haha.

That was pretty much standard when my boyfriend and I cosplayed Chun-Li and Ryu together.

    Personally, I'd go with >>5024477

I'll just take a picture of both them together and separately. Simple and easy as that.

"Wow, I almost never see people cosplay as X, X is my favorite character. Can I get a picture of you?"

    A) They say yes, done deal
    B) They ask if their friend can be in it also..

If B occurs you simply state TO THE FRIEND "You don't mind if I just take a picture of your friend, right? I mean, X is my favorite character from Y series so this'll just take a second."

If their friend insists (Or they have pre-arranged duo poses and are already in them) then just take one of them together and one of the one you actually want afterward. Most crappy cosplayers know their cosplay is crap and are already low self-esteem anyway so will typically back down to not ruin things for their friend.

    You are severely overthinking this.

    >>Go up to pair

    >>Ask for a picture of both of them

    >>Ask for a picture of each one individually

    >>Disregard picture of hambeast

You got the picture you wanted and the hambeast's feeling's aren't hurt. That simple.
    >> Anonymous 10/02/11(Sun)05:40 No.5025821
if you're using a film camera at a convention you're a) trying to be hipster b) going to deal with it because you know what you're doing c) waste an exposure or d) pretending to take the shot of the ugly friend

and if you're using digital then this isn't even a question
    >> Anonymous 10/02/11(Sun)07:49 No.5025909
I just ask for a picture of the one I want. Have never felt like I needed to include everyone there in the photo, and no one yet has acted offended. When my friend and I go to cons people ask us separately for photos as well.
