This will be my first time going, so I really don't know what to expect. The cons I've been to have at most 2000 people so I'm sure the size of ACEN will shock me

Going and we've already reserved an executive suite. Its going to be amazing.


Cons are what you make them, if you dont want it to be a party con, then dont let it.

yeah...i don't know about next year. the lolita community in Chicago and those who go to ACen in general are rather nice. it will be the only thing that brings me back. surrounding area for accommodations is shit compared to Ohayocon or Otakon. also if ROFLCon falls on this weekend or the previous weekend and if i go to Los Angeles for a urban planning conference which happens from the 14-16th of april, i'm NOT going to ACen.

if i do go, i'll be taking Megabus to Chicago. driving alone is rather expensive. i wished i had this option for Katsucon.

I love ACen and I'm going even though I'm sure work and school will be super busy around that time. It's a great con.

I will be definitely seeing you midwest folk again in 2012!

Acen hasn't been good in years and considering the amount of damage the attendees cost to the hotel, I'll be surprised if it's around for much longer. Hell, there was easily $250,000 of damage last year including the $50,000 custom glass window that was broken just above IRT.

There's no way it can survive with Anime Central and Ohayocon so close, and Marcon taking the Convention Center on Easter weekend, not to mention the Hyatt won't take them back.

I...actually might consider this. One big reason I didn't even consider ACen was because Fanime was right after it. But this... it may (or may not) work out for me.

I was happy to learn that ACen's staff are FINALLY getting themselves put together after this year's fiasco (at least it's nice to know that they're moving the panel rooms to where the game hall is usually held - dohohoh), however, the timing is just crappy since it's near final exams.

I'll be there, as always. Running the Hallway contest and helping run the Masquerade, as always. ACen is my favorite convention.

I have a room in the Hilton this year. At least it will be more quiet than staying at the Hyatt. This might be my last ACEN for awhile or forever if I move away this fall. :(

I am not entirely sure yet. It falls the weekend literally RIGHT before finals week of my final semester of college.

I will have a better idea of if I can make it or not, this January when I start the new semester and know when my classes will be having their final exams. (if they are 8am Monday morning following Acen weekend, I probably will not go to Acen.)

The Hyatt was completely booked for May 2012. Companies have to make contracts years in advance to secure the weekends they want and ACen wasn't able to get a weekend in May for that year unfortunately.

I'm debating between C2E2 and ACen because they are two weeks apart. C2E2 was super fun last year. Much better than ACen, but all my friends go to ACen. Such a hard decision. :\

Hope you prereg and have your badge sent to you. Because Line con has some fucking long lines. People seriously wait all day and miss massive amounts of the day to get in. It's expected for 20+k people and 1 registration location.
It would be nice if Acen rented more than 1 hall for once since the con has grown so much. I miss the car shows and stuff. Even if they had open areas they could set up chairs and shit and make chill spots in the con center since there is never anywhere to chill other than the hotels and outside.

Fuck ACEN. I"m going to C2E2, Anime Midwest, and whatever else comes along. Anything is better than getting your head smashed in by the drunks and crack heads there.
