    So I posted here yesterday

How would one go aquiring a chest piece like this one?
Can I just go to a metal work store and get one?
Or should I just find some scrap lying around.

As you can already tell I want to cosplay as The Kid

I can't really help with where to get metal, but if worse comes to worse, here's a tutorial on how to paint a convincing metal texture

    Thanks

From what I can tell so far im going to need

Hair dye (I dont like wigs, they itch)
    A scarf thing
Some metal (Or something I can shape easily to match)
    A few belts
    A tan
and I never used the hammer in the game So I'll probably go with the Spear

Have you tried using a wig cap? Those really cut down on the itch factor.

Other things you can have (some more important than others)

    - Black Tonic/Healing bottles
    - City Crest tied to your back
    - A narrator following you around
    - Plushie of one of the enemies.

For the armor, CRAFT FOAM! Cheap and easy to handle/paint.

    ^ Great tutorial

Also, greatly approve of your cosplay choice!

It's usually hilarious to watch people here hurt themselves, but you seem too new to it.

If you try to make that chest piece out of actual metal, be careful as all fuck. The corners on that thing, unless rounded off (they aren't in the picture) would slice your arms open quite nicely in normal motion.

Would whiskey bottles be good enough for the tonic and healing potions?
One with cola and the other Gatorade?
And if I were to have a plush I'd use squirt
    >>5013446
    >>5013446
    Thanks!
Though I'm sure I'd end up messing up somewhere Along the line
Thank goodness he doesn't have too much armor!
Chest, shoulder, bracer and shin guards if I recall correctly

If I were to make something like say...the battering ram.
What would I need to use?
Or could I just grab some large hollow tube and use that with some aesthetic changes
    >> McBalderus 09/28/11(Wed)00:36 No.5013814
    Also

Would you guys consider his hair white or eggshell/light yellow?

How much bleach would I need for jet black hair

Whiskey bottles are too boxy for both items. If you take a close look you'd see how the edges are rounded.
    >> Anonymous 09/28/11(Wed)02:01 No.5014077
DON'T USE METAL. Use Sintra or Wonderflex. Sintra is SO SIMPLE to use and it's cheap as hell. Wonderflex is easier but way more expensive. You can get different thicknesses of Sintra. Order Sintra from here http://www.foamboardsource.com/sintra-pvc-foam--sintra-pvc-board.html

You cut out your shape and throw it in the oven (or use a heat gun), and then mold it. There are tutorials on youtube for both. I suggest you check them out, because either of these will definitely be what you need.

btw, I'm working on a Zia costume :>

    :O

I tried convincing my sister to go as zia
    This is how it went
    >Hey cena (Nickname for celina)
    >What...
    >I have a cosplay you may like
    >Show her zias picture
    >She looks like a drug addict
    and then I was sad

But how would one go about getting really white/yellow hair?
My hair is pitch black and I know for a fact it would take a ton of bleach to get it blonde/white

Everyone here is going to tell you to get a wig. Time and time again we tell newbies passing her that it's just not worth the hassle and damage to your hair. Especially bleach.
Wearing a wig for a day, that you can then also reuse whenever you like, is cheaper and less hassle than bleaching your hair. Also, have you thought about roots afterwards? And the upkeep if you want your hair to stay a uniform colour? And if you don't care about the roots, let me tell you now it won't be pretty. That's up to you though I guess, but I really really would recommend trying to wear a wig.
And you think wigs are itchy, believe me your scalp will itch if you try bleaching your hair for the first time and you don't do it properly.

Also seconding >>5014249 and >>5013446 for the armour. All those materials are much easier to use, cheaper, and actually might even suit his armour better considering the colouring style in Bastion.
Working with metal is pretty hard and dangerous, maybe try something simpler first? I understand you want the best look for your costume, but if you're not used to crafting you're probably more likely to achieve that with other materials.

I can give you more advice if you like but I don't want to sound too patronising, sorry if it comes across like that!

It's all good, any advice is good advice

I probably won't be able to do the costume for a while so planning ahead is cool

How thick would you say his chest piece is?
It looks like it's about an inch thick

If I were to scale it to myself I'd probably want it about half an inch so it doesn't look like a huge wooden block on me

If I do decide to get a wig, what wig looks most like his hair?

Have a look around for wigs on ebay or taobao (pretty much chinese equivalent) first to see if there's anything you think's suitable. You might decide bleaching your hair is better colour wise, but do some research first just in case.
The pic has a few to start you off. Maybe wait for other helpful anons to supply you with more links, I only use a few stores I use (all on that list) and they might not have anything suitable.
Would you be up for trying to style a wig too? It's likely you may have to do that.

For the chest piece, I'd use some thick foam as a base, like a camping mat (usually use that as a foam core for swords) and then cover it with something else that I can then paint over. I'm really not an expert with armour though so again, I hope someone can help you further with this.

Found one on eBay that's quite large and not exactly the style, but I'm sure I can fix it a little

I'd go with Silver. I don't think his hair is that white to begin with imo
