Why do girls wear makeup, lipstick, eyeliner, eyeshadow, when they are crossplaying?

I noticed this recently at Dragon Con

Why do male actors and news anchors wear makeup, lipstick, eyeliner, eyeshadow, when they are having photos taken or on screen?

I would like to see one that is actually wearing red lipstick like the OP image.

You'd think for being friends of Lady Ava's they'd know a little better with crossplay, huh

I don't think its lipstick. I think she just didn't dull her lips. I'm pretty sure I saw her at D*C and all I saw that she was wearing was eyeliner and foundation.

Number one freaking pet peeve in cosplay. Unless the character calls for makeup, don't wear fucking makeup *cough cough*AntinquityDreams*cough cough*

You should wear appropriate make up to match the character, such as covering blemishes, highlighting or downplaying facial features, etc.
A ftm crossplay shouldn't have heavy eyeshadow or bright lipstick, but she should work with makeup to make her features more masculine.

No. Nononono. Do. Just wear makeup that looks like you aren't wearing any. There is a difference.
Foundation and powder do wonders for you in photos, and contouring can perform miracles. That is all.

actually upon a second glance, they both fucked up their foundation. Why are they wearing something too dark for them?

I was referring to feminine makeup, should have specified. Contouring is great when done right, but I never see it done at all going through some galleries.

i don't. if you're trying to look like a boy, why wear all that makeup? especially eyeshadow.

Like Kelly and Jenn here, as much as they pissed me off before, I'm loving the fact that they're really putting in effort at looking like freaking men and doing it right. Though Jenn looks a little funny with the forehead lines, this is awesome. It's the shit that cosplayers like AD does that makes me want to slap a hoe.

There is Kitty too. Her contouring is subtle, you can't even hardly see it, but she makes herself look like completely different actors, and like a man, and she pulls it off!

While we're on this topic, I actually needed advice on this.

I know the do's and don'ts of crossplay make up, however I'm crossplaying Sasha from Seikon No Qwaser and he has super girly features. [In the first episode they even argue over whether or not he is a girl.]

Should I stick with regular crossplay make up, or play up the features he has played up as well? [Mostly eyelashes.]
    Pic related.

Doesn't even look HUMAN, let alone male.
