okay, this is mildly /cgl/ related
i'm trying to get over my social hangups by applying for some part times jobs.

right now i'm filling out an application for michaels, which is an arts and crafts store.

but there's a field on it that asks me to "describe why you love arts and crafts"

it seems like a simple enough question, but my mind is completely drawing a blank; what do you mean "WHY" do i love arts and crafts?
i am so bad at this.

ITT discuss your job/ job hunting stories..?
    >> Anonymous 09/25/11(Sun)23:28 No.5006609
OP, just say something like- "I really love arts and crafts because it lets me express my creativity in a fun and fullfilling way."
I wish there was an arts and crafts store here, I hate my job...

It's timed, too. I didn't even finish the thing before time ran out.

what sucks is that the girl who was at the till when I went there last time seemed like a dull, unenthusiastic mouth breather. How the hell did SHE get in there?
    >> Anonymous 09/25/11(Sun)23:38 No.5006654
    It's not really /cgl/ related. Gb2/soc/.

Haha, happens to me witn similar questions like "Why do you want to work at _____'s?" Sometimes I don't and woul rather work anywhere else besides that place, but I bullshit and make it sound like I love the place so I can get the job and therefore, money.

Anyways, I fucking make pizza and other shit food at a gas station deli. There's not enough employees and it's usually me and the cashier, and I'm making pizza orders almost non-stop, plus subs, plus food for the warmer. Shit sucks.

I'm going to start applying at other jobs, now that I've gained some money and had a starting point. Just moved to nowhereville, working at closest small town.

I did co op at Michaels in 11th grade.

I wanted to shoot myself every single day.

But maybe that was just cuz most of the people I worked with were gigantic bitches.

I couldn't get a job because EVERYONE was looking for prior experience....which is why I needed a first job..... anyway my friend hooked me up with where she worked.

    At the mall.

    At a kiosk.

    Selling cosmetics.

    Dead Sea Wonder, nigga.

Well, seagulls have to make their burando/materials/costume money somehow.

/soc/ is too busy trying to fuck each other for this sort of thing.

i gather that's how it is with most jobs, though.

I work at a Michaels. I think I put something about how I liked arts and crafts and being creative. I've worked there for four years now and my creativity has actually declined. I like my actual job, but the crap corporate has been giving us the past few months makes me dread just walking in to the building.
    >> Anonymous 09/26/11(Mon)00:00 No.5006736
does that shit work, or is it just a scam? (i worked selling kiosk stuff [newspaper subscriptions to be exact], and we were told to play up stuff that didn't really exist in what we were selling...i don't work there anymore, haha)

I have two jobs now. Full time I work at a hotel, front desk. It's a small hotel, but part of a big chain. Cons include having to do the laundry and dealing with asshole guests, pros include getting a lot of Canadians who only speak French and getting to sit there and listen to them talk, along with bitchin discounts at hotels under the chain's name. Good for con travel.

My other job is part time in a warehouse. Shipping "adult novelty products". I get $100 in free product a month and my boss will buy us all lunch or coffee like once a week. Pretty sweet deal.

You have no idea how much I hate those Kiosk.

    >Joined the military.

I do mindless repetitive task for seemingly endless lengths of time with little compensation and no breaks.

The stories of my military experiance...oh my god, the stories, oh my god...

Working two jobs right now. Just graduated and looking for a full time position. The two jobs are stable right now but I really don't want to do it forever.

Gamestop and ACMoore. Gamestop sucks, ACMoore is pretty decent. I really lucked out with that, because of the discount. And my coworkers are pretty nice.

I work at a Party City, and the employees all chief and drink on the side. Pretty fucking chill. Besides that, I applied to 21 different jobs and only Party City hired me so I am damn lucky to have this job.
