    Dear /cgl/, I've always liked the iDOLM@STER games, but I've fallen even more in love with the series since the anime came out and I can watch my idols with English subtitles. I really want to be Makoto now!

    I just need some advice about makeup. Makoto is a tomboy and is supposed to be handsome enough for all the girls to fall for her, but also girly enough to be an idol. I'm not Asian so I am not sure how I can achieve this effect... I've saved all the non-Asian Makotos I can find as well as some Asian ones I like, and I'm hoping for someone to help me figure out what is working and what is not.

    Even on Cure there were way more bad Makotos than good ones that can make my heart go doki-doki!

    So other than being Asian, which I can't do, what is the secret to being a good Makoto? What do the Asian ones have makeup-wise, hair-wise, and face-wise that the white girls are fucking up? How can I emulate this?

    Please don't say that the white girls are "fucking up" Makoto, and that all asian Makotos are superior. It's honestly somewhat rude. Cosplay isn't just about the face, remember- it's about the costume too. Have fun with it. Don't compare yourself to heavily photoshopped pictures (I'm not saying all asians are, but I AM saying a lot of pictures in this thread are).

    Make the wig have a sort of cool-messy look, and not too "styled" looking. I'd say wear mascara and some eyeliner, probably in a more natural shade. Avoid blush and go with natural lip-gloss.

    I love iM@S, and I want people who cosplay from it to enjoy themselves with it. Good luck with this. I'd usually dump tons of Makoto pics, but lost my entire folder. So instead, have my only Takane.

    OP, I'm so glad I'm not the only one who has totally fallen for the idolm@ster series!! I'm watching an episode legitimately as I type this and I listen to the song all day, erryday. Doesn't "Ready!!" just make you feel so happy inside?!

    Haha, anyway, I think that for most of the idols, a light, natural looking makeup should be used. Maybe the eye shadow should have a little bit of glitter, since they're all idols. For Makoto, I'd use concealer and foundation as a base, and use "Pure Radiance" warm powder by Bare Minerals instead of blush or bronzer. For eye makeup, you could use some natural looking brown powder with a little bit of shimmer. Use brown eyeliner and maybe black or brown mascara. She should look cute, but not too overly feminine.
