ultimate aim of Cosplay is to look as close to the character as
possible and I think that the black people who happen to be into the
various 'scenes' surrounding cosplay (anime, lolita, japan stuff, etc)
are probably the least like "your racist black stereotype" possible,
they are very likely to be super conscientious and more 'aware' in a way
that doesn't seem to affect those who chose to 'increase a character's
size
This is exactly why I have accepted the fact that
I'll never cosplay Sailor Moon. And reserve myself to characters such as
Alyx Vance, 63 Garterbelt, Shinobu from No More Heroes, 63'd Killer
Bee, etc etc. I could only ever play black/dark skinned characters
because when I cosplay, I wish to do justice, not just be a "Black
Character X"
This is in no way dirisive of the people who don't
stick to their color in cosplay. Not at all, keep doing what you do
delicious legged Sailor Venus (you know the one). It's just that *I'll*
never be able to do it. |
