Pretty much what everyone already said. We have a shitload of cons, but the best ones to go to/most popular are A-kon, A-Fest, Anime Matsuri, San Japan, IKKiCON, etc.

Texas is really boring if you're living in the Houston area. Here, there's only Delta-H con, Kamikaze con, A-Kon and Oni Con. However, this year, OniCon is in Galveston and everything else moved.

Usually DeltaH is at the University of Houston downtown campus, but I think it might be moving next year.

But other than that there's not a whole lot other than San Japan and Anime Matsuri.

San Japan and mizuumi con are the only two notable cons I can think of in my city. Don't think anyone mentioned Realms con in Chorpus Christi yet.
Oh and in San Antonio and Houston there are these lovely resteraunts called the Magic Time machine, and if you can snag a job there you get to wear any costume you like and act in character. The one here in San Antonio is pretty chill, dunno about Houston (or was it Dallas?) fuck.

Ikkicon is alright. It's nice, because it's winter, and cold, and you can cosplay as pretty much anything without sweating to death. Also, new years. And there are usually drunk hobos outside the con.

San Japan is nice. Lots of walking, because it's so spread out. In the summer. Very hot. But fun. It's my favorite of these three.
