I do this too. I don't consider it copying but using it for inspiration. I look up to a lot of cosplayers and use some of their cosplays for inspiration for myself.

Looking at cosplays gives a more realistic view of what you're trying to do. Sometimes when I get stuck on how to do a wig or a prop I look at cosplays of the character to have an idea of how I can make it.

Not everyone has the experience and skills other cosplayers have. As you get experience you learn to make your own stuff. People who don't have enough experience need tutorials or help from other people's cosplays.
