!!0KLJYlknxts 09/05/11(Mon)11:15 No.4931272>>4931225 While those rules do hold true on /cgl. there are little nuances in those statements that should be expanded upon.
>Self posting
There
are two types of self posting: invited and uninvited. Invited self
posts are in threads asking for it (deducted self post threads, "what's
the latest costume you've worn" etc) self-posting is ok in Progress
threads as well. In general it's ok to self post if the poster shows
some humility such as asking /cgl/ for critiques or ways to improve the
outfit. I think the reason why /cgl/ does look down on self-posting is
that it seems like it's a real tacky way of inserting yourself in a
discussion when everyone else is talking about other cosplayers. If
there was a thread asking for really good DC, why would you post your
own cosplay of Batman when there are better looking Batmans with
professional grade photos taken of them hovering around in your
collection that could be posted instead?
2. Posting their friends
Posting
your friends kind of ties in with self-posting as it just seems like
you're just looking to increase your friend's popularity. This is
painfully obvious when the OP not only says that the cosplayer is the
best at being such and such character but also includes a link to their
cosplay website. However posting your friends is discouraged more of a
"safety" thing above all else. /cgl/ has a pretty nasty reputation still
and when you post your friend's pictures it's kinda like shoving them
right into the firing squad so to speak. |
