Have Stina006 making judgements about someone she apparently liked because she has a huge stick up her ass. She's 21 and I still can't get used to that fact since she's a total fuckwit. I'm too tired/lazy to look for much else, sorry.

She does have a point though.

Future employers are going to respect someone who put in their hard hours at some shitty minimum wage job than some stupid girl who took off her bra for money (that's even if they'd dare put it on a resume).

I'm a college student myself and I admit it's difficult to obtain money without completely sacrificing and absolutely busting ass. However, nobody respects a stripper because strippers don't respect themselves.
And for the same reason that stripping is "easy money" is the same reason why any intellectual institution or future employer WON'T take you seriously--you're a lazy, morally bankrupt, dumb broad.

I remember reading an article about a then recent Veterinarian student who paid off a big chunk of her loan by posing in Playboy. That doesn't sound in anyway lazy. It sounds smart. You show your titties and pay damn near half medical school debt in one shoot? Why the fuck not?

And she had job in field after she did that. I'm just saying...

In strip clubs the girls never just dance on stage. Once their turn is done they will try to get people to pay for lap dances or more (private room). While you certainly can dance only on stage, you won't receive the supplemental from the work you could be doing on your off time and so lose a big chunk of potential income.

On a side note, I honestly hate women who obsess about numbers. Like "I need to have these measurements", "I need to be this dress size", "I need to weigh this much". I keep wondering when these bitches will figure out that it's more than numbers and that being healthy (meaning taking care of oneself, eating properly, exercising, etc.) should really take precedence over boxing oneself in trying to fit a narrow set of numbers. Seriously, getting and staying healthy and in shape goes hand in hand with looking one's personal best.

But, if you say you're from a latin american country, I've had realized that a lot of people from there want to be as white as possible and despise black or even tanned people. I love them all!". I love how someone (Shinobix something or another I think) had the nerve to say if you're tired of seeing same costumes, stop attending conventions. I was on coscom before 4chan. We dont make accounts there to troll, that's a waist of time. We read the threads, and sometimes even post if we feel we can offer a valid and helpful opinion, which is a fleeting rarity since theres nothing good to post on with out the sunshine brigade coming in and calling us jerks because we take this hobby more seriously.

This. And I love how they are now called the Sunshine Brigade.

I see coscom as a dead-end for cosplayers that are just starting out. Once the Sunshine Brigade comes in and convinces everyone that shit-tier costuming is "LOLFOR FUN AND THEREBY THE BEST KIND OF COSPLAY" there's no need for them to try to go from buying/commissioning or making shitty costume to learning how to sew/make props etc. and improve skills.

Anyone who does want to work harder at it and bump their skills up instantly gets called an elitist whether or not they play that part. Gofig, coscom is like muthafucking high school all over again. Names change but both are still filled with a bunch of raging retards.

ehhh I wouldnt call it the dead end. I call it the starting point. I migrated here through coscom. Some one linked to a thread saying how it wasnt so bad or something so I took a look and found myself a new home on the internet.

I find if people really take this hobby seriously then they wind up here or elsewhere that isnt coscom. Some are on coscom who still are past the "ITS ALL FOR FUN NOTHING IS BAD" sunshine brigade mantra. But their rare and few between.

I mean I get the fact that some folks really are in it for fun. The really bad ones I try not to judge, since my guess is theyve never cosplayed before and just want to join in. I'll still judge yeah but well my motto is I'll give harsh critique to those who ask for it, in the hopes they'll improve. If they dont ask for it, I cant really stop others from flaming them but I hope that means they'll realize you need a thick skin to get into this hobby....

coscom is filled with folks who lack that thick skin so they huddle up like sheep in a storm with their delusions pretending no one will judge them ever. And blindly following the people that lead them. Not all of coscom is like this, but I notice more and more that most of it's users are sheep.

The general cosplay chat area, definitely. Reading it when I was bored actually made me look forward to the cons I was going to less :( Kind of a "oh fuck, these are the kinds of people who are into what I'm into" deal.

The tutorial threads are still useful, though. And all the most vocal sunshine brigade fags are NEVER good at construction because why take this extremely expensive hobby seriously? It's all fun times lol! So you never see them outside of their little general chat haven.
    >> Anonymous 09/07/11(Wed)22:12 No.4941465
yet they try to give advice anyways, it pisses me off oh so much. So much.

Were not bad people for putting effort into our costumes, and going the extra mile to have them look good. And I'm sure they all have their little story on why it wasnt a great costume and blah blah we shouldnt judge. But you cant expect to have to explain your story to every single peson that walks by you at a con. If your going to cosplay anything you need some what of a thick skin, and be willing to hear the harsh words if you took the lazy way out. Its the compromise you make for going with an unfinished, or lazier cosplay.

I wouldnt even mind that they dont take the hobby seriously if they didnt try to constantly shove it down our throughts, and condem any site that doesnt share the sunshine mantra. Coscom isnt a golden beacon of wisdom and extremely good cosplay, it's the "for fun" site. But they try to polish it up like it's the best cosplay site on the god damn internet. No. No it is not. They often give crap advice, and dont understand why we call them on their shit when they act all high and mighty.

    /end rant.

My thoughts as well. Couldn't have put it better myself. I occasionally pop in to give advice but what the hell, I've seen a close friend get some of her threads stickied only to have noobs asking the same shit repeatedly. She won't even browse the forums and rarely gives out advice which is so unlike her. She still gives advice and helps me out, but it's all offline.

It's this type of thing that pushes the people who know what they are talking about far far far from coscom... and this is sad. There used to be some namable helpful folks, but I think they may be over in their corners vomiting relentlessly from the Sunshine Brigade.

I don't really find the site very helpful at all and forget about searching. That is a whole fucked up mess which makes google searching the site much easier and more practical. I can't confirm it but I think she lurks here too since all but vanishing from coscom.

LMAO Meso gets pretty passionate about a lot of topics but yea I kind of agree with her on this thread.

People are taking things way too personally and it's funny how it only took 2 pages to get derailed, without core Sunshine Brigade members at that point.

The topic was about costumes you're sick of seeing, not necessarily saying "HOLY FUCK IT'S ANOTHER ONE OF THOOOOOOSSSSEEE COSPLAYERS OMFG DIE IN HELLFIRE NAO. I LOOK DOWN AT YOU". To me the OP start out saying something akin to, "I'm sick of store-bought shit-quality costumes where you know the makers were treated like shit too. So what are you guys sick of seeing?"

Part of me feels like saying "I'm sick of seeing people post on this thread and assert that their opinion can be the only one. I'm also sick of people insisting that people who said they are "sick of" something are being hateful assholes to the individual themselves, which likely is not the case. Sure, I'm sick of seeing 50 Miku cosplayers ever 20 feet of space in a con center, does that mean I hate them? No. Does it mean their costumes do not interest me at all since there ARE 50 of them? Yes. Does that mean I walk up to them and scorn them or even give them so much as a second glance? Nope, I couldn't give a shit about you and your over-cosplayed character. Oh, good, I was hoping I wasn't the only one who stopped feeling sorry for her the minute I read "I SOMETIMES cosplay to school." Really, what else did she expect?

Especially when she brings things like wigs and props to school on top of everything else. If she was as smart as she says she is, she would leave the costumes at home.

Then again, maybe I'm less sympathetic than others because I've got an offline friend who insists on wearing costumes in public every chance she gets and it's really embarrassing.

God damn it all, she's got multiple friends out running interference for 'plots' and you know she's too busy fussing with her wig and doing neko neko waiiiiii crap like grooming her ears and tail to do anything but fuck up a class. Teachers are saints, they get paid fuck-all and they have to deal with morons like this girl all day AND improve their average standardized test scores from last year.

Kids, when you see someone doing things like this, I hope you'll realize that you're doing the world a favor by grabbing and absolutely wrecking their wigs, their cat ears, their plushies, et cetera. Enforce those low power levels, for the good of us all.

Ah that must make for an interesting friendship.

But on a slightly related note, I kinda love how weebs insist that once they get to Japan they will fit in perfectly. Obviously if they had done their research they would know that public cosplay is very much frowned upon. That's why most events have places that you change once you arrive and/or fees for cosplayers. Most folks don't want to see anything out of the usual on their daily commute to work/school, out at lunch/dinner, shopping. The mentality is completely different so they don't appreciate people who are "oh so unique and special snowflakes of awesome" because they are wearing kawaii desu cosplays, have multi-colored hair, etc.

Same goes for many folks here. They don't want to see anything out of the usual, hence why those boys "plotted their revenge" or whatever against her. People who stand out are the easiest targets to make fun of (whether it is deserved or not).

I have no pity for this girl at all. I spent my K12 years "surviving" the best I could being 1 of 2 Asians (my brother was the other) in a white school district. In the 80's no one gave a shit about diversity so I got made fun of/bullied for something I couldn't change or choose, unlike this retard who could just wear something different to school to avoid criticism. No pity whatsoever for her.

Same, I don't mention cosplaying unless someone asks me about it /mentions it.

Also, as a teacher, I'd have sent her ass to the office for being a distraction in class and for breaking dress code. Our school has a collection of donated and "unclaimed from years past" lost/found items that they wash and keep on hand for idiots who break dress code or have a problem that might require a spare set of clothing at school. Yep, that might put her in her place.

Fixed. The soft-hearted teachers will probably be sympathetic to how she's stupidly making things harder for herself and wish she'd just stop. A few might think she's cute in a retarded way, like a dog doing something funny because it doesn't know any better. To everybody else she's a cockroach.

She's probably telling herself that they all admire her creativity and her courage, though.

She's actually very sweet, and it's one thing to wear a casual costume around town for a day, but things like Esther Blanchett's nun outfit? I think I'd rather hide under a rock. Ironically enough, she's half-Japanese herself.

I completely agree with everything you've side, though, and while I ordinarily wouldn't condone something like what those boys did if it were in a more appropriate setting (like, you know, an actual cosplay event), in this case, her own lack of common sense is the only thing to blame here.

    >> 4950746

I have to wonder why none of her teachers have done just that. I have no idea what grade this girl is in, but if she isn't in college, how does she constantly get away with this? The only time I ever remember being allowed to wear outrageous things was on Spirit Week and Halloween, and even then, there were limitations.

I'd guess pity, honestly. Chances are she gets picked on pretty regularly and doesn't have a lot of friends, so it would seem cruel. Punishing her for a dress code violation would seem sensible, but unless the people picking on her are also punished (all of them, including the ones that just say mean things--see how this might get to be pretty tricky?) it'll look like shitting on somebody who's already being bullied and victimized. Not something teachers or administrators want.

The best possible option would be just to make her stop fucking cosplaying, but if she won't get the hint on her own you can see how it gets more complicated than just taking the wig away.

    >The best possible option would be just to make her stop fucking cosplaying, but if she won't get the hint on her own you can see how it gets more complicated than just taking the wig away.

Indeed, it is very tricky ground. The guidance office/school psychologist could possibly help her "get" that she may be making things worse for herself by what she wears but unless she's sent or referred there, I highly doubt she'd ever go for counseling on her own volition. If I see stuff like this happening that I feel could transpire into an ongoing problem, I mention it to the administration so that they at least know. In fact, they always tell us at faculty meetings that they *want* to know what's going on throughout the building because they can't be everywhere at once.

While I think wearing "obvious" cosplay [stuff that's not passable as normal street clothing] to school at inappropriate times (e.g. not during Spirit Week or on Halloween) is rather stupid, I do hope she doesn't persist to the point that she gets herself into physical danger.

Here, less so. Like magic, you get more and better concrit. But surely it's all because those coscommers are fascist wusses?

I'm from Canada and actually have only been visiting cosplay.com for about two months and I already just can't stand her. At first I thought she was just a little over zealous and stubborn but the more of her posts I read the more I dislike her. She has a bad habit of derailing threads with her friends and doing that whole 'omg someone said I was ugly u guiz' and then the thread turns into ' oh no axelai u r not ugly ' for ten goddamn pages.

I could understand it if she was a particularly talented cosplayer but she's just mediocre, I don't get it.

holy shit this. A friend of mine was talking with her about some reference for Hetalia when she asked if I cosplayed from it as well, I laughed and shook my head saying "Sorry no." Then it turned into "OH BOY ANOTHER HATER I SEE"

There has to be something wrong with her.

Seriously? So if a person in a sloppy costume that looks like a steaming pile of shit asks for constructive criticism I should pat her ass for her and say 'good job sport! you look amazing don't let anyone tell you otherwise!'

Yes it's about having fun and if having fun is all you want to do you're more than welcome, but don't ask for con crit if you can't handle anything other than 'omg soooooo amazing!!11'

Oh, jumping in on the Axelai drama, does anyone else remember her shitstorm about Cure removing the pictures of her kissing her friend?

I thought it was pretty hilarious; for those that missed it, she uploaded a series of like 3 pictures of her making out with this chick in various intensities, and Cure blocked them from public view, Axelai then went on to have a bitch fit about "IT WAS ONLY A STAGE KISS. OUR LIPS WERE HARDLY TOUCHING."
"CURE WOULDN'T HAVE A PROBLEM IF I WAS KISSING A GUY, THEY REMOVED THEM BECAUSE IT'S TWO GIRLS."
"I'M BOYCOTTING CURE BECAUSE OF THIS BULLSHIT AGAINST GAYS AND LESBIANS."

    1) The ass kissing of shoddy cosplayers on coscom annoys me. I don't want people to be mean, and I'm not even looking for honesty...I just hate seeing bad costumes that have a ton of comments on them, it's seriously like people do not have brains and eyes or something.

    2) The shitty (ugly/overphotoshoped/otherwise crappy) showcase shots annoy me. I see far better pictures on a daily search than they put up.

    3) Something else that kind of makes me cringe is when people act like they are being super accurate but end up falling far short of it. This happens across the board in the hobby. It's one thing to notice details, it's another to actually do them. As someone who takes the time to do a good job including the details (as opposed to shitting out many costumes in a short span of time) it just irks me when people try to act like they are sooooo detail oriented with their rush job costumes. The two aren't always mutually exclusive, but they usually are.

What I find interesting is that she registered back in 2007 but really has only been active on the forums last year and this year. Everything she says is either misinformed, a passive-aggressive jab, something about how awesome she/her costumes are, or asspats to friends.

Pretty sure she doesn't realize she IS one of those annoying hetaliafags people can't stand. No she may not be goose-stepping or throwing random 'heils' but she is guilty of other things.

Just read the comic, ignore the fandom. I think it's at its critical mass and there's basically nothing at this point that can make it worse or better.

And you know what? If you don't like the comic, just stop reading it. Having to read something you're not enjoying just because your friends "told you to" is a pretty stupid reason to devote your time to it. Sure, you may have to suffer the whole "friends ditching you for the cool Homestuck people" (protip: THEY AREN'T ACTUALLY COOL) might suck, but then they were shitty friends to begin with and that still wouldn't justify the time you wasted on a comic you're not liking.

Yea, that is becoming obvious. But really, a lot of us choose a character's name for our cosplay names AND cosplay said character for a while but eventually move on and cosplay other characters. I wonder if she'll ever branch out.

It seems like more than that though, It's like everything she does is that character, she died her hair to be like his.

I dont get how one relates to sweeney todd all that much... I mean in a sense of feeling like the worlds against you and wanting revenge maybe... but does this mean her wife and child were stolen by some one and she was exiled to jail and is now seeking revenge by instead of working in a barbor shop working at a pet grooming place?

Cutting hair doesnt make you like sweeney todd. Nor does carrying scissors and razors around. It means you cut hair. Besides as I recall that wasnt really his passion, I thought his passion was slitting throats and taking revenge and practicing the perfect kill.

Anyone who walks around a con all day in character is pathetic and is substituting a 2D imaginary friend for their own personality.

What? Please explain. How does one befriend a 2D character?

But, being in character all day is excessive. As an actor, I probably stay in character more than others, but I will be myself as well (it's probably 50/50 if the character doesn't have a similar personality.)

I know, I think I lost it at about the part when she said "what makes me think of this is your last pic, reminds me of Sweeney looking intently at his razor."
Hell naw. She's looking at a sonic screwdriver, hun, and she's not even looking at it intently, she's looking at it with suprise.
I think I might be crying from laughter.

Yazoo here, and just for the record, don't worry, I will not be starting a Sweeney Todd costume. Haha.

I stopped going on cosplay.com after Jia Jem sent me a "warning" PM because I told a cosplayer on the forums that an Arda wig was more suited to her needs then the Epic cosplay/premium line wig Jia suggested.

Fuck I hate Jia, she's been a huge bitch to me on several occasions.

God forbid you talk about a line that might be better then their shitty Epic/Cosworx line on their site! HOW RUDE!

Calling samefag. And let's be honest here, you probably said something or had a ton that warranted a PM. Jia's a nice girl but she also doesn't deal with bullshit. Who's to say you weren't giving bullshit reasons?

And I don't know about Jia being a bitch. But I've had a thread closed about an Ebay I buy wigs from. Cosplay.com only allows threads and responses about wigs if it has to do with them. They've been nicer about it lately, because they have no wigs to sell. But I bet it'll get bad again when they get their 'new line' out.

I'd actually consider myself pretty nice on there. My comment that I got warned for was something like:

"Though epic cosplay wigs are nice I don't think the texture of them would work really well for that character. Arda makes really thick wigs that are infamous for their spiking ability, they have a really good color for Black Star, too.

I think you'd be a lot better off with one of them."

Then Jia pm'd me with a rant about coscom wigs and how they are suitable for more styles than you would expect, and that I shouldn't comment on something I have no idea about. (Hello, own both brands, used both for spiking, I do know what i'm talking about.) And that if it happens again I might be in for a ban. I was like "What?"

Another time was when I pointed out the person should look into skin top wigs (I think the character was France) and that an Airily wig would look really nice. Then Jia said "The premium line wigs all have skin tops, I have no idea what your going on about." The particular wig she was referring too had a skin top the size of a quarter, which really wouldn't work.

When they were having tons of issues (taking 3 weeks to ship stuff, 14 days for orders to process and crap like that) Someone made a post about needed a wig quickly, Jia jumped in and said "We ship in under two days!" I posted back, "I doubt a coscom wig will get to you on time, their service has seemed a little iffy recently. Ordering from Arda, or Epic cosplay directly is a better bet imo!"

I got warned again. I'm really pretty nice on there, I can be sarcastic but I try to be helpful, not rude.

But i'm afraid I don't have the PM anymore, these days I only use coscom for photoshoot scheduling purposes so my inbox fills up pretty regularly.

You'll just have to believe me, or not, whatever floats your boat. But you should know, I don't have a reason to make it up, i'm just sharing an experience.

This is kind of one of my pet peeves when people bitch about something out of their control, like the weather or the number of people at a con. The person who stepped on her boot probably DID do so on accident. Was she not aware that Otakon this year was a massive clusterfuck especially because people were scrambling to be in the air conditioning whether it's their hotel or the BCC? People bumped into me and stepped on the heels of my shoes too, but I understand that's bound to happen when 30K people try to cram themselves in a building instead of being outside some of the time.

Jia got really bitchy in a thread where a chick asked if $700 was too much money to spend on a commission. Me and a couple other posters checked out the website for the commission and their shit looked shit quality and we said so, and that $700 was WAY too much to spend on the costume she wanted.

Jia got in there and started bitching at me about how I don't know anything (looks like this is a go-to line for her) and how she hates when people do shitty "walmart cosplay", implying that I make cheap shit for the sake of being cheap.

Aaaaactually I have easily spent $700 on a costume before, but I made it myself and it LOOKED like that much money went into it. She was ranting at a strawman.

It was kind of funny how defensive she was about what was really nothing. You'd think she was the commissioner...
