    Speaking of webcomics,
    Questionable Content.

IDK if you guys have read it, but I did, and I hated it. It wasn't funny. It tried so hard to be "hipster" while being so mainstream. The characters were annoying and unlikeable.
    And fucking everyone loved it.
Which was why I hated it.

And which is why I dislike Homestuck on principal. IDK why but it's hard for me to enjoy really popular things. I guess it's the pressure of everyone else liking it that makes me dislike it.
Like I went to my friends house and she was like "Read Homestuck"
and I was like "naw I'd rather not."
And she was all "No ,seriously. Read it. Do it now. Read it."

    No. No.

I might check it out now. Is it really ok? Does it warrant all its fans? Or is it like Hetalia?

The fandom. USUALLY, I have no problems with any fandom. Why? Because most of the time they're just hyperactive yaoi 14yr olds, or such 'n other. But never have I run into SO many stuck up, pretentious faggots in the HS fandom. It seems like every other person thinks its so fun to act like a douchebag; In character or not.

ON THE OTHER SIDE, the comic is note-worthy considering how looooong it is. And the character designs are pretty good. Plain, but unique. The plot? I've only tried a little. Unique? YES. The art? Phenomenal! Alot of the fanart and videos are extremely well made, and the soundtrack is well composed.

All in all, its just the goddamn people. Maybe.. JUST maybe If I can ignore every damn hipster that fawns over this, I can enjoy it.

People keep trying to shove Homestuck down my throat "BECAUSE IT IS SO GOOD, AND YOU ARE A NOBODY IF YOU DON'T KNOW SHIT ABOUT IT."
Please, then I'm a nobody. I tried to honestly get into it, for the sake of people to stop pestering me, and it didn't do anything for me. I'm neutral over the whole thing, but if I just simply post something small on facebook about my news feed being flooded with "BAWWW HOMOSUCK, Y U DO DIS?" a thousand times every time it's updated, all hell breaks loose, and those people bitch at me. I dunno, I just enjoy it. I also enjoy the fandom, when they aren't making 892312831 jokes about the update and shipping everything and everyone.

So, it's very rare when I like the fandom. Also, the plot is pretty intriguing and the character designs are quite enjoyable. The reason I got into it was because my "patron troll" was pretty much the badass that shared my interest in law and investigations, and I'm glad I got into it because it's actually an enjoyable story once you get past the first act.

And to be honest, people say that the first act is the most boring, but I fucking loved it. It's all a matter of taste, I guess. I don't hate on those that hate Homestuck, and in return I'd like to not be called a HomeFag or something.

OK I finished an eithics assignment, I'll do a little.

Homosuck is just shit. The art is awful and hurts my eyes, the music is awful and hurts my ears, the plot is awful and hurts my brain. Poorly drawn grey people doing things apperently, but the comic is so damn long that all i got to was something about arms, metiers and cake. What the fuck. It isn't "funny" its not "intellectual" and it isn't "hipster" its just shit.

All the fans I have met with the special cases of 4 people were on the scale of sorta awful to JESUS CHRIST MOTHER OF GOD STOP TALKING TO ME awful. The fans want to explain all 5000 pages to you, they want you to understand the inside jokes, and if you dont they get mad, they get butt hurt. Its beautiful really. When trying to make them angry in person, they either get mad, or laugh it off. The only ones that seem to laugh it off though are the 4 people I know, who seem to be the only ones in groups of 40 at a time to not be an anti-social fucktard. STOP MUMBLING ABOUT HOW MUCH YOU LOVE THE CHARACTERS, STOP TELLING ME HOW MUCH YOU LOVE THE PLOT, AND I SWEAR TO GOD IF YOU TRY TO EXPLAIN TO ME THE THING ABOUT BUCKETS I AM GOING TO PUNCH YOUR SKULL IN. YOU WONT BE GREY ANYMORE. YOU WILL BE RED. ALL FUCKING OVER. YOU HEAR ME? YOU FUCKING HEAR ME YOU LITTLE PUNKS? THE GUY WITH THE HORSE MASK IS GOING TO CURB STOMP YOUR HORNS IN.

I don't hate it and would also consider myself a neutral party. At this point basically all of my friends (and my girlfriend too), are into it. I see enough of it online and referenced between them that I have a surprising level of familiarity with at least the characters and even some of the in-jokes. What I've heard of the music is impressive, the concept of an interactive flash-comic is pretty neato, and a big chunk of the fanart I see is real awesome (in fact, the only interest I DO have in it at all is pretty much only spawned by cute fanworks I've seen circulating).

But I'm just not interested, personally? It's simply not up my alley I suppose, and I do feel a bit left out, but when something's not your schtick it ain't your schtick.

    >I will not shove it down your throat, though I did it once with my best friend because I KNEW she would like it and now she's a bigger fan than me. Unless you're my best bro and I've seen your tits, I will not force you to read Homestuck.

    >Hivebent is not the greatest part of Homestuck. I actually think the intermission was the most important part of the series thus far, and I have to re-read it, as well as start Problem Sleuth

    >Speaking of, I know there's more to MSPA than Homestuck. I need to start Problem Sleuth (Which I'll do on another browser during the hiatus), I read all that there was of Jailbreak, and I have yet to read Bard Quest.

    >Yes, I came from the Hetalia fandom. No, I didn't JUST come in. I've been out of the fandom for months, but got into Homestuck back around Easter so I'm considered a newfag. Not my fault I didn't know about it until it exploded on my Tumblr dashboard.

Rose is Johns friend over the internet. She is a real person. In the chat logs ("Pesterlogs") her text is purple, and Johns is blue.

The green-house-shaped-pointer is being controlled by Rose's computer, over the internet.

If you're genuinely interested in trying to pick up homestuck, I can drop you an IM address and I'll explain shit as you run into it.

I like Homestuck, but I'm definitely not going to shove it down your throat. The first time I picked it up I thought it was boring. The second time I picked it up I thought it was boring. The third time I tried to wade through it, I was still bored, but I had nothing else to do, so I stuck with it anyways. Eventually things started happening, and I got interested.

But then it all snowballed into one huge, impossible, clusterfuck of time travel and characters. And while I still love it, even with that clusterfuck, I know that's not everybodies thing. It's long and complicated and often times poorly paced. But I enjoy it for what it is.

I agree with this, too. Like, when I get into a fandom I get pretty deep, and I want to be excited about ALL of the canon, not just the best parts. If the beginning of the whole story weren't such a huge chore maybe I'd be more inclined, but I wouldn't consider myself a good fan at all if I started in the middle.

The stuff I advise people to skip is the transition period.

The author was transitioning from Problem Slueth to Homestuck, to comics with very different styles. PS was run by random hijinks suggested by readers in a drop box, while HS is plot-driven and author-written. The first Act is all about Hussie easing his audience into a new form of entertainment.

At the time, it was a good idea. But for new readers who never read PS, it sucks.

I don't hate it. Actually I'm quite fond of it. The way the writer (Hussie, right?) tells the story is pretty unique and interesting. I like the little flashes, the music is alright too. The plot is still really convoluted and it took me about 3 tries to get past the exposition. I've stopped half way through act 5, and I'm reading Hussie's other stuff. I guess you could say I'm a fan.

The character design seems pretty interesting to me.

okay as a fan, i enjoy the plot, music, the art doesn't bother me, and it has some enjoyable characters. I liked the intro so it didn't bother me but plot wise, yes it's slow. I would say... if you want to see if you'll like it you might want to try reading the intermission. It's it's own story so you don't need to worry about understanding things *except for item switching but that comes fro mproblem sleuth anyway*, and it's written after the plot's got going so it's up to pace. If you don't like the intermission you probably won't like the main story. As for getting into the main story, I guess things pick up like said above after john installs the game.

this, i mean i was sort of ok while reading the first part but its at some point i was like "is this even going to be relevant at all?"

its an ok comic really, im still reading it though
the art is awful and i really hate when people go out saying that it looks amazing when it really thre are better things out there.
one thing i do love is the music that comes with it~
i do feel that if it was an actual game it would have been a lot better...
now i have been cosplaying it a lot lately and after hearing all of this horrible thign of the fandom i was quite wary of going to one of the meet ups, but everyoen was really nice and chill at Otakon so its went better than expected

It bothers me when people complain about a series for the fanbase. Ignore them. You really want to say that fans influence your thoughts on the subject? Just don't pay attention to them, seriously

Okay, well the fact that the art sucks is more than enough for me.

art doesn't bother me but yeah i can see why people wouldn't like it.

You should see some of the later things when other people do the art for the comic, it's HIDEOUS to me.

    Yeah, really.
I like the sprites though, they're kind of cute.

I get what they mean. Like with the math thing, while it may or may not be relevant in the future, what matters more is if you enjoy studying it. If you enjoy reading it then it's good, but don't feel bad about skipping some of the long pesterlogs if you get tired of reading (i did). but if you aren't enjoying the plot in general it might just not be your kind of thing.

Ok, I just got to the part where he installed the game and am confused. Is the moving stuff around stuff in his computer or happening to him IRL adn why is he not surprised if it is?
    >> Anonymous 08/27/11(Sat)02:39 No.4897137
I mainly like it because I find it pretty damn humorous and entertaining.
The way that the conversations occur amuses me. idk.
it gives me something to do when I'm bored.
    Can't stand the fanbase though.

the moving things is his friend moving around the furnature in his real house. Him not being supprised is just part of the story, like how they have inventories based on computer sorting algorithms
    >> Anonymous 08/27/11(Sat)02:57 No.4897207
All the people I've talked to who didn't really like it are ones who skipped the intermission or long pesterlogs, or they "couldn't get" the time travel.

I like the writing style and how much the comic does not give a shit. Shipping is insanely out of hand but I'm not really a part of that so oh well. It's just unique in its place and full of stupid jokes and references and that's pretty much what I'm all about.

I've met some amazing people through the fandom and it's been really fun. I don't get all the hate. Quit a douche and do something positive. I swear people are saying they hate homestuck just to get attention.
