What do people think about a genderbend Captain Phoebus? My fiancee wants to be Esmeralda for Halloween and it was pitched to me about being a female version of Phoebus, just to make things interesting. I've yet to think too much about it, but I'd like opinions and suggestions on what I could do.

Personally I'm usually not a fan of genderbending because a lot of people just use it as a way to be lazy and make they're own designs but if it's done well and has thought put into it, I don't really see a problem.

Think about the character and the original design and relate it to the new design. You can also look at some of the other clothes that are being worn to get the same sort of style that's being used in the movie.

I get what you mean about turning men into sexified girl versions, but I don't think that's the route I want to go. What I was thinking was alter the armor for a female form, keep the color scheme, and maybe do something different with the shoes.

I'm going to try to sketch some different ideas, I think I might do a peasant shirt under the armor but that's just one idea.

I'd very much like to make this dress but formalware isn't something I've done a lot of so I'm not sure how to approach this dress fabric wise.

I was thinking a re-inforced duchess satin base dress with various shades of two tone taffeta for the ruffles? Possibly mixing with duchess satin layers to give a variation in texture and effect down the dress? Would this be appropriate?
