Hey, hey... Tell me the story of how you found cosplay.

I was watching Eva but couldn't get pass that annoying twat. that experience almost killed it for me, but then I discovered Naruto. thus it's how they say my story began.

Through /cgl/, believe it or not. I was a longtime lurker on /ic/ and /co/ and I kept getting linked over to threads on /cgl/...and then I realized that cosplay was pretty fucking cool. The rest is history and way too much money spent on wigs and fabric.

I bought the second issue of Animerica when I was 7 and there were cosplay pictures in it. Ever since then I always wanted to make costumes. I finally did when I was 13.

My older sister introduced me to it: I think she found it through her online RP friends? I always wanted to cosplay together with her, and we made plans, but by the time I actually learned to put a costume together she had outgrown conventions :/

Well, I bought some DVDs off of Ebay.
And then I was exploring the magical Ebay, and I typed in "anime costume" [Or some variation] and saw that they had Bleach costumes! And I wanted one so badly.

So I saved up my money and bought an Ishida cosplay.I had no idea where to even where it to! And then my friend at school told me about Megacon.

So my mom took my friends and I too Megacon [Closet ninjas] and the rest is history.

Shinji... I don't know as much, I'm too allured to Asuka to pay attention.
    Naruto... Hyper as fuck!

A friend of mine came up to me at school one day with a flyer saying "Hey, I think you might be interested in this halloween party thing, you like anime and all that dumb shit right?"
It was for an Anime North run dance; I went dressed all in black and saw all these people in awesome costumes, I thought it was pretty dang cool.

I stumbled upon coscom looking to see if someone made costumes of things like Dragonball Z, Pokemon, Digimon, etc. I was really interested and googled to see if there were any cons in my area.

Lo and behold there were three local ones, and it sorta took off from there.

Went to a con that I found through the local Asian fair with a friend years ago, and had fun despite not being in cosplay.

Saw so many amazing people cosplaying, that when I was asked if I wanted to join in by friends, I jumped at the chance and have never looked back~

It was back in october 2010 & I was online messing around on google on a Friday night (since I had no life) i came across this link talking about anime & cosplay. I didn't even know what cosplay was all I knew was anime so I clicked and it led me to cosplay.com & I saw all the cool pictures, the costumes ect & I was instantly in love with the idea of cosplay.

After that found info on a local con, watched as much anime I could to get some cosplay ideas and slowly began to see my money be spent on wigs & fabric rather then clothes & snacks

On deviantArt. Looking up pictures for some dorky anime, I forgot which one.
Find a photo of a group of people dressed as the characters.
"Oh my god that is so cool. I didn't know you could do that. :DDDD"
    Look at the description.
"blahblahblah cosplaying <person> is so fun. "
    Googled 'cosplay.'
    Amazed.
    Googled cosplay outfits and wigs.
    Dem prices.
    Damn.

Was into Escaflowne back in 1999 and was searching for images from the show online. Found some people in some really crappy costumes and found the word "cosplay." Looked it up, got interested, took sewing classes once I reached high school, and it took off from there.

A couple of friends went to Jacon in 2006; one of them dyed her hair red to cosplay Renji from Bleach. I asked them about the con and they told me about cosplaying. I attended the next year and never looked back.

Went to DA and found behindinfinity's Death Note picture.

    That's how I found cosplay.

Was in an art class with a girl I liked. Overheard her talking with friends about cosplaying at a local con. Have always been reading manga and watching anime. Decided to give cosplay a chance. Cosplayed for the first time with a simple costume. Get asked for hugs as soon as I walked in the door. Awkward moment as I notice the girl I liked staring at me while girls were literally glomping me.

I actually regularly used the Crunchyroll forums back in '07. It's where I discovered this site as well.

My parents cosplayed before it was called cosplay and dragged me with them upon me getting old enough to want to dress up as Arwen and a hobbit. My dad made the fucking blood-red-dress from RotK for me when I was 7. Said original dress in photograph.

My first con was when I was 8 and then I basically started going gaga for costumes. Hardcore nerd family does that.

My best friends got me into anime and manga, and from there I started watching pokemon again.

And suddenly BAM I wanted to dress like this guy and be fabulous. And BAM suddenly this was an actual thing that people did. And it was called cosplay. The rest is history.

(Although I never did get around to cosplaying Harley.)

I was on some shitty Cardcaptor Sakura forum back in 2002 and people were talking about going to AX. So I looked up more information, and some of the search results included cosplay galleries. I actually thought it was nerdy as fuck but my mom insisted that I pick something because it'd be fun.
