If you haven't seen Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni and Ni Kai yet, do it. Timeline hijjnks and gore and lolis everywhere.
Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica is also worth a watch; despite obvious flaws it's a nice, sweet deconstruction series and gets really really emotional towards the end.
I'm watching Code Geass right now on recommendation of my friends and though I'm not like WHOA THIS IS AMAZING into it, it's still a rather well put together series.
