08/14/11(Sun)11:11 No.4847269I think 'worst con experience' was from early evening Friday of Otakon this year, the Hetalia shoot mainly. It
was fairly miserable outside in my five layers and hardware for
Steampunk Austria. This wouldn't be bad, since at the last con shoot I'd
gone to had been fairly efficient and had called Austria right after
the popular characters. However, my friend running the shoot was a
couple of minutes late, and in that time a few girls I vaguely know
wrangled power of the shoot. They couldn't project their voices, they
were dithering around, and all together nobody wanted to listen to them
them apparently, as it took my friend to show up. So I figured, well,
I'm a bit hot, I'll just stay for the character shoot and go back. Then
one of the girls pulled out a list and started calling off
characters... except... it... took... forever... After they got passed
the popular characters, I expected they'd be calling Austria, who
incidentally is overdressed even when I'm not making a stupid alt
design. But... then they went to Hong Kong and scores of other fairly
insignificant, more weather-appropriate characters. Right when they
yelled for Taiwan, I realized I was a bit lightheaded. I began to
stagger back up the steps to the skywalk to get back to the con center,
and stumbled. I was very lucky my friends were nearby and helped me get
back to the con, or else I would have honestly fainted out there. Then
there was a brief, obligatory inferiority-complex attack that tend to
rise up when I'm around stellar costumers, and this was in conjunction
with temporarily losing my Habsburg flag. Thankfully, by the end of the
night, pretty much everything was solved, I was not suffering from
heatstroke, an I made a friend who let me borrow femme Dave, which was
probably the most fun I'd ever had in a costume. |
