    29 KB UK Thread Anonymous 08/08/11(Mon)18:22 No.4824731
Currently London and other parts of England are under attack by rioters and vandals. This is a sick sight leaving many scared for their safety. Many who are safe are disgusted by what's going on. Many won't get much sleep tonight.

Lets distract those by having a UK thread featuring the best and up and coming. Post your favourite cosplayers and Lolitas. Give Brits something good to distract. Or drama to help them keep mind of things.

Sorta wish people would riot when the cops over here shot an unarmed dude.

Guns are generally not prohibited here, there are very few you can get with a licence (rifles, shotguns - for hunting essentially).

So if someone is involved in shooting someone then yeah, it's a big deal.

That's not to say if someone shot someone in self defence (who is not a policeman) they would be charged. Everyone knows about my Dad now so whatever - my Dad shot an intruder who broke into his property and was threatening to kill him. My Dad was completely cleared.

Personally I think it's a good thing we take gun crime here more seriously, but whatever.

pretty amazed your dad got cleared.

Half the time they're charged with murder.

I prefer the "make my day" laws we have in a lot of states here, but that's personal preference. Don't want to deal with all the legal fees if I shoot someone for breaking into my house.
    >> ai-honey !eEQ3LJoZmM 08/08/11(Mon)19:07 No.4824939
    >>4824910
It's a rare occurrence, really. So it's a little unfair to say that.

The case most similar to my Dad's was a farmer who shot burglars on his farm. The thing is those burglars were /running away from him/ when he shot them, therefore it wasn't self defence.

I don't think he got murder as they were respectful to the farmers loss of patience as he had been burgled a lot, but still. As I say, it's not a normal thing to happen in Britain.

Whereas my Dad shot the guy in the front. My Dad also had a licence for his guns. Also the other guy was fecking bonkers and had broke into his property. He was cleared very quickly because it was easy to prove self defence. In other cases it's not so easy to prove.

I just wonder when we're going to get the first report of a family being burned to death in their flat above the corner shop. Hope some torrential rain comes down. Arseholes are less likely to go rioting in bad weather, and it would damp things down a bit.

People's lack of trust in the Met shooting someone who was actually dangerous rather than just an innocent bystander is somewhat justified after the cock-up over Charles de Menezes. But this stopped being protest when the looting began.
    >> Anonymous 08/09/11(Tue)07:20 No.4827613
Just to clarify something: No one is denying that the guy who was shot was a drug dealer and armed and all that. What the Met did wrong was not notify his family, something that they have been accused before of neglecting to do when it comes to suspects from poor neighborhoods, estates, black people etc. I am not defending the guy here - he was scum and he was armed and better that the Met shoot an armed criminal before he hurts somebody. But his family just wanted to know what had happened. The law says that the police have to inform the family FIRST and THEN give the details to the press. Unfortunately they did not do that this time, the family had no idea until they saw the story in the news and that is why they went to the police to seek answers. They didn't go there to start anything or intimidate the police...
Again, just clarifying this detail, I am not defending the scum that was shot, nor the scum that took this as a chance to loot....

Fuckers. I was kind of looking forward to that game. Nice pregame to USA/MEX, maybe De Jong kicks someone else, perhaps Rooney, in the face...

So when do the ticketholders start rioting?

Well I got up a few hours ago and went for my workout, however on the way back I had a good laugh.

Stopped three times by police - had my big gym bag - and just around the corner from home, Riot Police in a line telling me to stop and put my hands up. Laughing I did it, they checked my bag and asked me some questions, let me carry on.

Seems the 4 helicopters and police vans everywhere were a sign shit was gonna kick off again.

Last night was more fire bombs and weapons, today it just seems to be groups looking to trash anything they can. They don't even care about loot.

Cooked dinner and got a cup of tea. Now I sit back and don't give a fuck.

Um, seagulls, should I be scared of these riots? I'll move to England in a couple of weeks and stay for a year as an enchange student. The problem is, I don't have any idea where my host family lives, because my first family informed that they can't take me. Now I'm afraid the reason is the riots.

It makes me a bit frustrated because most of them aren't even rioting for political reasons, they're just rich kids(the ones who SHOULDN'T have anything to say about all this) who like to steal and burn things for fun. Seriously this always happens in UK, some wise people want to start a peaceful protest and then the teenagers want to join the fun as well.

    This is a nice thread.

I saw pictures of the Nando's in Birmingham and I almost cried. First night of uni, we went there and broke my Nando's virginity. Breaks my heart a little to see all this shit happening to a city I actually care about a lot.
    >> Anonymous 08/09/11(Tue)17:55 No.4829165
Oh fuck. Britain, the once great nation is in an utter fucking mess. It's like David Hasselhoff when his drunk burger eating video came out.
I think people looting and shit is disgusting, but if these citizens, forgotten by society, aren't getting respected, who are they to respect?
The sad thing is that the government will do shit all about this. People aren't rioting because some guy got shot, this is a culmination of months, years, of the British government assuming they can do whatever they goddamn like, privatise the most basic services, cut health budgets to pay banks. Unfortunately for poor David Cameron, he had to leave his Tuscan villa to come and beg people to stop ;___;. Riots didn't help with uni fees, neither the Iraq war, and we can be sure that this will do nothing but alienate protesters from everyone else and give the shittabloids something to rant inaccurately about.

As much as I hate the fuckers that are rioting and looting and turning our country to ruin, I disagree with the comments people are making about shooting them. They don't deserve to die. They don't deserve to take the easy way out. They should be punished for there crimes not given the freedom to start life a new with death. If you want to shoot them, get them in the stomach and refuse to give them medical treatment... at least then they die slowly and painfully.
