Probably about 80% of the characters I would like to cosplay are female. I've got no problem with wearing a dress or whatever, but it is upsetting knowing that I'll never be able to do it well. I won't even try with characters I really like. See picture for a character I would like to do but won't out of respect for the character. At least when I get older, I can do Yupa.

Well at least you'd hide your manly body shape with that outfit.
Remember to shave, make-up, contouring, good wig, and your face will be fine.

This. Except I think I've gained paranoia from it.

I could easily try to cosplay a bunch of girl characters that I love but I've seen so much ita that I've been too scared to even try knowing that because of my fucking hideous body, even with a good costume, I'd still not be good enough and just be laughed at.

The only cosplayers I know in the real world keep telling me all that "just do what makes you feel good" thing and that I should go ahead, but I don't think they get that I won't feel good if I know that somebody is posting pictures of me on the internet and laughing instead of seeing the beautiful girl that I would be pretending to be. :(

    Why was I born female?
All I ever wanted was to hang out with my male friends and play video games/go camping/rough house outside with them.
But no, that wouldn't be 'appropriate'.
I'm not even masculine looking enough to pull off male outfits.

    Practice.
And people will be laughing even if it were the best costume in the world because here on the internet that's what happens.

Best advice I can give is to not take yourself too seriously.

If I did do it, I would go with the face mask, goggles, and hood setup so everything would be fully covered. The problem is that my frame is simply not feminine. I'm about as skinny as I can be for being 5'11"/181cm, but wider shoulders and the height in general just don't look so good. I may consider it in the future, but most likely not. Plus, there are enough other characters I don't mind tarnishing the image of.

While I've never had anyone make fun of me to my face (or over the internet to my knowledge), I do feel like it makes some people seem more awkward talking to me. However, at the same time it can be a good conversation starter depending on he person. If nothing else, it is worth the experience as long as you put a bit of work into it. It gives a new perspective on things.

With wide shoulders just make sure to pad your hips to make yourself proportional.
But don't do it a ton.
Plenty of girls have wide shoulders and no hips. But it's generally more hips than male.

And the ones like that that I know are tall (one's about 5'9" ish?) so height is no problem.
