I'm not a huge fan of MK9 but I did check out the Street Fight 4 matches on friday and the MvC3 matches the day after.

I forgot my camera and there were so many cool cosplays this weekend. Especially this one Riza, I got a pic on my phone of that and an X-23 but, well, it's NOT a really good camera... Oh, also:

You couldn't walk 10 feet outside without seeing shirtless black dudes hocking water all at the same price. Not something I'm used to, as I've never been to such a big con before.

No seriously, for my first non-group cosplay, I was so happy that people took pictures. I can finally see exactly why people make such intricate and elaborate cosplays - not to say mine was elaborate at all, but still.

Otakon doesn't really enforce any weapons rules unless you're being flagrant about it. Staffers don't care and security is more concerned about people trying to vandalize or rob the place.

It's seemingly random. To be entirely technical, the gauntlets I was wearing for one costume were not allowed as they COULD hold an edge, but nobody called me on it. I read about a guy with an obviously fake weapon who got told to get his weapon peacebonded in the last hour of the con.

In the same vein, one dealer required ID before allowing you to touch the swords and knives, but you could putz around with the butterfly knife at the Nazi lolita seller without presenting anything.

Oddly enough, this randomness in enforcing rules extended to the pornographic dojin sellers -- I had a nice chat two dealers about yuri who checked IDs, and at another table this 14 year old dressed as France was looking at the explicit stuff.
