The show is okay, but the fandom is a buzz-kill.
The reason I am doing a fem Alois is.. a project of mine.
I want to see how many fan will get pissed off at the fact of seeing their favorite shota genderbent. I want to see what they will say, do, and such. I could easily just do a regular Alois cosplay, but i will ahve many weebs fawn over me. So by reversing the gender, I want to see how they react.

Your opinion on this? Like if they get pissy or snotty, and attack me. I will document what happens.

There is a girl in my local cosplay community who thinks SHE IS Ciel.
She even has a huge following on Facebook calling her "Ciel-sama".
And she has to be the center of attention or she will get mad.

At the Kuroshitsuji photoshoot at one of the cons, her and her boyfriend made out or did some kind've yaoi pose in every. Single. Picture.
Now note: Everyone else was doing these adorable, in character, and classy poses. [I think my favorite was one of the Sebastians posing by offering a tray of loli pops to the Ciels.]

When her ex-girlfriend who was also cosplay Ciel got more attention than her, she and her boyfriend bounced. Then we all got on the elevator to go up to the Nineth floor, because our Alois forgot something. The bitch and her boyfriend went and told Security that we were vandalizing the elevator.

[Now note, one dumbass did hit all the buttons, but that was not our intention when we got on the elevator, and that person was yelled at.]

And what really freaks me out about her, is how competitive she gets about cosplaying Ciel.
If you say you're doing a version of Ciel, and she sees it, she will do it too.

Alois cosplayers that cake on the eyeliner. Actually a lot of crossplay Sebastians do this too...

My only real issue with other kuroshitsuji cosplayers is that they are typically reall young 12-15, they don't put enought time into their cosplays, they don't commit to staying in character at all, and are often rude to other kuroshitsuji cosplayers.

To say anything the kuroshitsuji community isn't the most welcoming of them.

Personally, I don't like Lizzy and Ciel at all and just view it as a one sided love born from an old fashioned arranged marriage. Ciel has fondness for her but he doesn't return her affections or else he wouldn't have agreed to hand over his soul just for the sake of revenge for his parents.

Sebastian and Ciel on the other hand, I do ship it but not the "omg so romantic, they totally love each other!" way the crazy fangirls see it as. I cosplayed Grell at the beginning of "kuroshit" rage. I was pretty normal never rp or act ic... it was akward as hell running into a good looking Sebastian. We both kinda just pretended not to see each other. Is bad fandom linked to how.... ugly a person is? Most Kuro cosplayers I met were generally good looking and normal and I feel that's because I wasn't some hideous landwhale.... not saying I'm hotshit but yeah...

Totally different fandom but my friend and I ran into a Dr. Who cosplayer at Animazement 2011 (not sure which Dr. since I'm only familiar with the basics but she's a diehard fan) and he started speaking with the English accent and she was so stunned and complimented him on it, turns out he actually was from England.

So yeah, if you got the accent already or you can pull it off, it makes your cosplay that much cooler and really adds that wow factor but if you can't pull it off, please don't keep doing it like you think you can. It's just very embarrassing...just like the people that try to speak Japanese and only know five generic words.

This is by far my favourite Grell cosplayer. They do actually take the time to style the wig.

For Grells, that is my biggest annoyance. They just chuck a red wig on and hope for the best. Its much better when there is a style to it.

I've personally not had any bad problems with any of the fans or the fandom. I have heard of the stories but never really witness to any. I do tend to hang with an older age group. This is probably why I haven't witnessed any con horror stories. I have noticed that the horror stories tend to be with those of a younger age.

Oh Anon, are you me? I cosplayed Grell just as the anime was coming out too. Two Japanese exchange students recognized me, and about 3 con-goers.
They were all ecstatic someone else had even -read- the same manga as them.

Now I only want to cosplay Grell's alternate costumes instead of his default uniform. (1700s Grell- Period accurate clothing: it's going to happen, folks)

I was so totally happy to cosplay Ciel at first because he's one of the few characters that I can pull off successfully do to me -literally- having the body of a 12 a year old (pretty much flat chested and never hit the five foot mark.) two weeks ago, at CTcon, I get into the elevator dressed as Ciel. This guy whose in the elevator with me looks at me and goes, "Your ACTUALLY right size for that." I was both really happy and really sad because that statement was made.

I have a story. It's a re-post, and its not a real rage worthy one, but its a perfect representation of more than half the Kuroshit fandom.

And no, I'm not saying this because I think anyone in that series is madly in love with another character (except obvously Lizzy and Grell) I'm just saying the undertones of affection between some characters is pretty obvious even though it's trying to be subtle.

You don't have to be wearing yaoi goggles to see that Kuroshit has a lot of subtle homolust fanservice. It may not be a canon pairing (good thing too, because canon pairings are boring), but the fanservice is there. It's not an excuse for people to act obnoxious or hate on other characters though.
As for Lizzy, I don't mind her being badass, I just feel that the theme of hidden badass is starting to become overused in the manga.

I do agree that fans at cons are badly behaved, I was just commenting that every thread here seems to turn into an argument about the series itself, or an argument among the people posting, instead of the usual bitching about the weeaboo landwhales.

I just recently started cosplaying Ciel this year thinking the fandom had died down a little (i was wrong, but that is beside the point), and interestingly enough i have yet to have any horrible experiences with the fandom. I am not sure if this is because i have been incredibly lucky, or maybe that i am just a shitty ciel cosplayer that people ignore.

I do try to keep in character while with other kuro cosplayers but i will agree that some of them are pretty stuck up, especially if you happen to be wearing the same outfit as they are.

I'm amused because my friend and I were absolutely Calling It that Lizzie was gonna kick ass. She's Frances Middleford's daughter, who shot a bear. And, Yana Toboso has not really had useless women characters to a point. Meylene, the maid/sniper, Madam Red, the aunt/ripper, Frances...being Frances, Ran-Mao, etc. Even the tailor is rather badass even though she isn't really an attacker. Toboso's made it no secret she enjoys yuri. Still, I enjoyed Lizzie's Character beforehand.

I'm just glad now I can cosplay her without getting shit.

Also, amused that Ciel is slowly losing his masculinity to everyone else in this series... He should go to the kitchen and make everyone a sandwich.

I've not had too bad experiences, other than cosplaying from the Circus Arc and being shooed away from Kuro shoots or just general hambeasts doing what they do.

That said, I am grateful said batshit fandom has produced nice Merch, good fanart and good fanfic. Not the end of the world to have a healthy-sized fandom.

I liked Lizzie because she was a speck of normalcy for Ciel much like how Rita was for Dexter. She keeps Ciel barely anchored to the joys of life and gives him unconditional love and a chance at a real family again. The awesome rapier wielding part wasn't that much of a surprise considering her military family, but I love how Toboso Yana chose to explain Lizzie's behaviour and finally gave Lizzie some depth.

I prefer the manga because the anime because it turns everything into Revenge-Shota-Demon-Gay-Buttsecks-Fanservice. The manga is so much more darker and the manga characters are so much more interesting.

E.g.
Anime Grell - Wants to have Sebastian's babies and is mostly around to get beaten up by Sebastian/Will and do crazy yaoi fanboy stalker things for comedic effect.
Manga Grell - Although still in love with Sebastian and obviously gay/trans, he's darker and more psychotic with that serious cool edge about him that the anime dropped after the Jack the Ripper arc.

I still watched both seasons of the anime mostly because I love OnoD but also because I laughed through the entire second season. That fight in the lake part with Claude and Sebastian was had so much blatant fanservice it was hilarious and the bullshit ending just makes me wince. I wonder how they're gonna continue with the third season, completely original? It's pretty hard to go back to the manga storyline now that Ciel is a demon. Really they should have done the second season as "Kuroshitsuji Alt." or something.

That said, I really hope they do an OVA with the circus arc.

I've never had a problem with Kuro cosplayers, despite many of them being weeaboos with autism. They all tend to look like pic related, though.

In light of all this bad Kuro cosplay I must say that not all are terrible--this was a really cool group at AX.

However, I don't really know more then the base facts about the manga or anime so they may not be as accurate as I think they are.
