I’m pretty sure you can’t say who and what people compare something to on this website. I usually try to add something funny, but this is a Sailor Moon costume. And I’m not a perv, I was a little girl when all those came out. There isn’t anything about a princess who fights crime and gets the guy that doesn’t appeal to your average 9 year old girl.

Okay this is awesome, I used to watch Sailor Moon as a little girl and I love the Anime style. This is a cosplayer. I will walk around my walmart wearing my School girl outfit wearing my cat ears and tail :3 GO COSPLAY! I hope she will be at Nekocon or AWA ^^

The costume is from Sailor Moon season 3/4 aka Sailor Moon S and Sailor Moon Super S. Loved this series growing up.

There is a large thriving industry of anime fans out there of all ages and both sexes who would heartily disagree with your insulting caption for this photo. We go to cons as a family, and making cosplay costumes is a great way to connect with my teenage daughter. Just because you don’t understand it doesn’t make it stupid.

Listen, I’m not going to “defend” her wearing an anime costume since this is just as bad as any “costume” anyone wears to Walmart that ends up on this site. However, I do find the caption section offensive being an anime fan myself. Really, saying “anime is for 11 year olds and pervs” is just like saying “rainbows are for pedophiles” – it is showing your ignorance for the subject by being discriminatory about the type of people who like it as well as insulting the subject by associating it with something defamatory.
So you are saying that I, being a 25-year-old female, must be a pervert because I like anime or, because I am not 11 years old nor a pervert, that I have no “business” watching it. Well, both of those are lies, so why don’t you get off your high horse and start making fun of people who are -actually- below you (ie POWM) and not anime fans. Thanks.

Erin, it’s not really about getting mad about being made fun of. You see, I could laugh at some girl for wearing an anime costume in Walmart, even being an anime fan myself. However, like Phil said, it’s more about not perpetuating the stereotype that we are all perverts or have the mentality of schoolchildren because that makes people look at us differently. Also, the example you mentioned is a totally different situation – now if these fat people were angry because the captions to their pictures talked about how all fat people are absolute morons or pedophiles, I would understand their outrage.

I’m 75 and I know who Sailor Moon is. And I found the caption funny. People today are much too involved in what is “politically correct” and what is not. No one is bashing anyone here. Anime is an art form–and, essentially, of oriental origin. Good for them–it’s quite a beautiful art form and, if I had originated it, I would be proud of it. This girl is obviously in costume, and does it well.

I see a girl on her way to a convention and making a pit stop for supplies or something, or its Halloween and that’s what she dressed as.
