/cgl/, why does everyone pitch a bitchfit when someone cosplays from an anime at a scifi/comic convention, but one-one bats an eye at /co/ cosplayers at an anime con?

Seems like a pretty nasty double-standard to me.

Well, Marvel /co/splayers are accepted at a convention because of MvC series, and we all know how those turn out with all the curly mustaches, pringles, and foot dives going around.
    >> Anonymous 07/10/11(Sun)11:41 No.4701793
I've heard of /co/friends being harassed by weaboos just for wearing shirts with the green lantern logo or whatever on them. It happens.

Does anime cons allow animal cosplays?

I want to visit with my fursuit.

I think a good lot of Bronies that are also anime fans, whether they're creeped out by furries or not, would at least think it's cool.

You can cosplay whatever you damn well please anywhere you goddamn please. Just wither or not the congoers approve of the costume is the question.

I see furries all the time at cons, anime cons specifically. Nobody seems to mind. I actually enjoy it. I'm not a furry but find myself extremely aroused by a decent fursuit.

Damn, what cons are you going to?

I go to Sci-Fi/Fantasy cons in anime cosplay all the time and no one gives a shit.

Why so hostile? I'd imagine with all the faggotry going in cosplays nowadays instead of actual cosplaying this would be a welcome sight.

Wait. Are you talking about the Rainbow Dash suit? Then yes. You'd be welcome. If it was just a generic furry then probably you'd be in danger.

UV-sensitive furries are occasionally spotted in raves, but they usually bow out early due to heat.

The fursuit MLPs would probably be accepted or celebrated, but you'd have to be one of the canon characters. Maybe a quad suit would make it even better.

Actually, I'm the anon you're replying to, and I hate the new MLP. A lot of people disagree with me, though, and that's their right. I also find furries at cons to be out of place and annoying at anime cons unless it's something like Totoro, Kirara, or something from a popular video game, like Wolf!Link. You didn't ask my opinion on either topic. You just said "are fursuits accepted" and I said that the MLP might be.

I'd paint staining juice down your back. Or india ink. Or super glue. Whichever I'm going with that con for furries.

why? would you throw paint at someone who's doing a shitty 5$ landwhale naruto cosplay? why so much hate directed at me because of my costume?

I'm okay with any cosplay. If anything I find it awesome from my experience in Sakura-con and Aki-con it seems no one is bothered. Also would love to see MLP cosplay
    >> G !!0KLJYlknxts 07/10/11(Sun)14:21 No.4702165
Depends on the outfit and series.

    If you cosplayed from

    Big O
    Afro Samurai
    Ghost in a Shell
    Cowboy Bebop

or something else with a huge fanbase on /co/ you'd be fine. Naruto and Haruhi, not so much.

Because most of the bitchfiters are neckbeards, most /co/splayers I know don't give two fucks who cosplays what.
    >> Anonymous 07/10/11(Sun)15:43 No.4702483
Generally, I don't like /co/splay in my anime convention because if you're there you're there because you like anime. I'm not gonna be a dick to anyone in /co/splay, but at the same time I just reeeeeeeaaallly wish they would go to their own conventions or pick an anime based cosplay. And vice versa for /co/nventions and anime costumes. Then you wouldn't get anyone bitching about it.

    Just my two cents.

No, I wouldn't mess with a landwhale in a cheap costume--if he or she is leaving me alone or is at least respecting my boundries. In my experience the furries are the onese with boundary issues. I only mess with the furries, an on rare occasions lolitas, and only if they annoy me a great deal. If they're being chill or respectful ("May I hug/glomp you?" and actually waiting for a reply that they freaking listen to) I leave them alone.

I don't hate ALL furries. Just the crazy ones. So you'll never hear "yiff in hell" or whatever other hate spew from me. Go do whatever you want to do with consenting adults. It's all on you. Just don't involve ME in your fetish.

    > go to tiny sci-fi convention
    >complement the guy dressed as a star trek officer, as being the ONLY one dressed as anything from a sci-fi series.
    >everyone else running around as a fucking pirate or steam punk.

nobody cares anymore about what the actual convention theme is. cosplayers gonna cosplay.
    >> Anonymous 07/10/11(Sun)16:26 No.4702707
I don't mind any genre of costume at any convention because it's all dress up fun time at the end of the day. To "pitch a bitchfit" over someone having fun in a costume that you feel doesn't match is taking a non serious hobby a little too far IMO. If the conventions had a rule specifying only certain costumes could be worn then I could maybe understand. But I haven't heard of such a case.
