The
first gathering I went to was the Valve one. Definitely one of the
larger gatherings of the convention, and seeing how not only did TF2
just go F2P weeks before hand, but the Meet the Medic video had been
released along with even more new updated hats, weapons, etc... pretty
much TF2 was still popular as hell. As such, it would probably explain
why the TF2 proportion of the gathering had literally consumed most of
the time duration like Snorlax and the space in between that bush and
that fucking tree you could just climb over in the first Pokemon games. I
can take the heat, but when you're a Pyro with a rain coat, gas mask,
while still wearing clothing underneath you were probably wishing
somebody threw Jarate on you already.
The props though? Simply
amazing. The Safe room door from L4D, the P-body and Atlas costumes, and
the various TF2 weapon unlocks and hats induced excitement. It was a
gold mine of great pictures just waiting to be taken, if you were Saxton
Hale manly enough to over come the crowd in front of you to take
pictures without it being obstructed. Most likely, you had to be dual
wielding two cameras as well because there were so many cosplayers going
back and forth.
As the gathering went on, cosplayers were
leaving left and right. You see these cosplays, hoping for when after
the gathering is over, you could ask and try to set up some quick skit
shots, but they're already gone before the random pairings for TF2 were
even over. Mr. Freeman went over this many times, and I don't hold Pillz
in a truly bad regard, more as in he just dun goofed, but it was truly a
damn shame that the other two games, L4D, and Portal, didn't have that
much time. It's not that big of a deal though. I said it before. The
gathering was good. People had a good time doing the sing alongs, and
posing. Lemons were had... Well, I didn't want his damn lemons, but
still...
Huge success. |
