I want to rage... so hard.... but I don't want to be ridiculous..... but... rage. So much of it.

I don't care how much it's cosplayed... I'm finally making my first female cosplay after dropping a good 30lbs. And it's going to be Miku, because I enjoy the color combination. And after watching CGL for a while, I feel bad wanting to do this costume. So on top of making her default costume, I'm making two different ones from Project Diva. Because I'm hoping to avoid looking too cookie cutter.
However, I will only be going to local small cons, so hopefully no flood of Mikus....

Also, if you guys have any suggestions as to what NOT to do with this costume, I'd gladly appreciate the advice. I haven't started to make it yet, all I have is the wig. And I'm currently trying to color match the teal to the wig because the store bought ones that don't match annoy me to no end.

3. Pay attention to your details
4. Make boot covers rather than the shoe + stocking thing
5. Take good care of your wig. Nothing makes me sadder than a horribly tangled Miku wig, which are EVERYWHERE.

Basically, just make sure you don't look like you bought it on ebay.

Also, don't expect much accolade no matter how good of a job you do. I slaved over my default Miku and was mostly ignored because everyone had Miku burnout. Also, the fandom at cons is really disappointing. Unlike anime or games, there's no guarantee anyone has seen or even like the videos and songs you like so it's hard to even have conversations about it.

I think I hate loving Vocaloid a little but I just can't stop.

I wish I knew how they got the hair to do this. I tried the hair toss in some photos once and it didn't look anywhere near this good.

Shameless plug of my favorite wig store: Arda wigs! Their teal is a really good color for Miku, and their wigs -do- tangle (as all wigs do, especially long ones) but are super easy to detangle, versus the E-Bay ones and Coscom/Epic Cosplay ones. One thing that irks me beyond all reason is when people wear short wigs with the clip on ponytails when the character is supposed to have a part down the center. Not sure if Miku's hair is supposed to have that part like her hair is really long, but I think the Chibi (which comes in teal!) with the long ponytail clips would be super cute for Miku! (if you want to try and keep the ponytails from tangling less, I would recommend washing them in liquid fabric softener before wearing? I find that helps mine to keep from tangling as much)

I have a wig I picked up from Hong Kong. It's a slightly darker Teal, but I like it. It his however one of the short wigs with the pony clips. It annoys me slightly, but I originally thought I had two weeks to make the costume, then the con was pushed back. So I jumped for the first nice less expensive one I could.

I LOVE this wig.
