I think the robot would get more noticable results, but ultimatley it would look too out of place- or at least most I've seen do.

The GLaDOS in a group we're doing is going for a sort of Makani-style tan.(http://makani.deviantart.com/gallery/?q=portal#/d3f84ux) It's probably close enough and a lot of people will recognize you.

To do the latter, it's mostly body-suits and prop painting.

Sadly it's not going to be exact. She's based her design off of Makani's from what I can tell (I directed her in the way of that), but she's changing it a bit to something she could pull off.

The only acceptable GLaDOS "tan" is Makani's. I've seen some outfit concept designs that are pretty good, but Makani's is the only good full character design.
It really grinds my gears when people try to interpret her into some kind of moeshit vocaloid loli nonsense. Or anything really sexualized.

I was gathering info some time back, but came to the realization that it's really hard to pull of right.
There's the human features kind of glados (pic related), which i like very much, though there's no real guidelines there. I guess it leaves you free to interpret.
And trying to copy the original is just too hard to do.
Oh and there's the miku-tan version, which isn't my thing.

That GLaDOS is Makani's design. A lot of people use that design in their humanized fanart of her simply because it's a great design.
