    >>4527315
I think she probably just saw the title and thought it was cute, not actually something from here. Or she doesn't know about /cgl/. Either way I don't think it's something to freak out over, and if people really don't like it they should just politely explain what derpy horse is to them and ask her to change the name.

I'm pretty sure that a knowledge of Engrish is not endemic to /cgl/ or even 4chan. Just about everyone is concious of shit like Pretty Soldier Sailor Moon, and it's not too difficult to switch out a few words to cater to your preferences.

I love the shapes of Emily Temple Cute's dresses and I know I will likely not be able to buy any of the ones from this year/last year so I want to make a Derpy-chan dress using them.

    >>4532155
I haven't done the math yet and am way to freaking tired to do it now. I am a fatty-chan in the process of trying to be a chubby-chan by Otakon when I want to debut the dress... I will probably go with five yards to be safe and use the extra for a bag or simple skirt if there is enough left over.

OMG! You know what would be cute a Derpy-chan T-shirt like the ones from ETC with the bunnies paired with a skirt.

I am waiting for >>4529485 to be ready so I can make another dress based off of the pic, with little sea shells for the trim. Because of my size I like tops and dresses that hit me on his chest and flow over my body to minimize my problem areas.

Good Luck with your learning. If you get a copy of sewing for dummies they have some cute little projects in there. One is a teared dress using a cute bra for a bodice. With some of these prints that could turn out pretty awesome. Slap some bows on for cap sleeves or something to show of your mad bow skills.

Seahorse is cute, but you should just make the diver's hind legs straight. This isn't about correct horsely anatomy, it's about a derpy stuffed toy, and straight legs are way more derpy (especially if they each go in different directions, lol.) But otherwise, good job, and it's awesome that you want to do it.

This. Aside from the unhorselikeness (watching Firefly blooper reels, please do excuse the Whedonspeak) of the legs as they are now, I'd imagine Derpy kind of helplessly flopping about rather than actually swimming, since swimming would imply some sense of direction and in my mind Derpy is just too hrrpfblblbpblb for that.
They're cute as they are, though! I'm just nitpicky.

    Welcome to the durp.
The sugary carnival print repeats on purpose. The artist gave us a nice 52" file. The whipped cream bottom came up to almost 6" and the horses came up 12". I didn't think the original came up that high so I asked if someone could tell me how high the whipped cream came up on the real SC print. But no one answered. So I looked at a picture of a real SC and guestimated that the cream part comes up 3-5 inches.

So I experimented with the resolution on Spoonflower so that the size wouldn't be so big and closer to the SC design. I also noticed on the original SC the whipped cream design also appeared on the bodice so now you have more of that to play with. A happy side effect is that if you order anything but quilt weight or the silk you get 44 inches of regular Derpy Carnival PLUS a whole other foot of whip cream and horses to make a bag, bows, cuffs, ruffles, ect.

I wish someone with a SC would get back to me though. I don't like flying blind.
    I hope that made sense.

Somebody should make derpy chan charms. One's where derpy chan is in cute costumes(pic related)

Actually, I've been talking with a friend about doing an artist alley booth in the near future, I'd probably make one or two derpy chan cellphone charms to sell. I'd donate the sells from them of course since that's what the derpy chan creator would want.

Derpy does belong to Amenoo. She has expressed her delight in seeing people create things based on her drawing. The drawings are from many anons putting their artistic spin on things. All Amenoo asks is that if you create something to sell that you give yourself a wage for cost and time and then donate profits to the red cross.

So yes it's a free for all to create whatever you like.

has anyone actually made any derpy-chan dresses/skirts yet?
also, the new seahorse print is adorable! (personally not a fan of the striped bows though)

Currently making a carnival Derpy dress. After that, I will work on that Derpy quit.

Hoping that I can find someone to make me a Derpy-Chan bag.

I'm like five minutes away from trying transfer paper just to see if it works. I'm willing to ruin a white tee shirt on the offchance that I could get a decent derpy-chan shirt for A-KON

Ahhhhhh! I can't wait to see it done! This is sososososo exciting. You HAVE to post pictures when you're done!
    >> Anonymous 06/04/11(Sat)21:59 No.4553415
So, I did a rough estimate. If I were to commission Derpy-chan skirts, they would probably end up being at least $100, probably closer to $120 (half-elastic wasitband, with lace and lining). Would anyone be willing to pay that much?
    >> Anonymous 06/04/11(Sat)22:18 No.4553482
    >>4553415

That's a fair price to pay imo, considering how much loli's dish out for their precious burando. I'd like a JSK tbh, and would you be doing custom sizes? What's your quality like? Pictures of other shit you made including the insidey bits?
    >> Tim 06/04/11(Sat)23:11 No.4553696
    >>4553415
That is honestly a lot more reasonable than I was expecting. Plus the actual fabric cost, it'd probably still come around to $200ish for a skirt, which, like another anon said, is still pretty good compared to burando.

Also, as an added question, how did the black print? I know the blue had some contrast issues, and I haven't seen any pictures of the black....

Wow, I kinda lowballed it because so many girls are notoriously cheap when it comes to handmade, so this makes me feel a bit better. I may bump it up a few bucks more and do french seams instead of serging. I don't think I'd offer jsks right away, but I might work out something. I would definitely do custom sizing.

I'll probably make a sample piece or two for myself first (once the next batch is up), and at that time upload some pictures of my other work.

Still not 100% sure I'll be doing this, but skirt commissions shouldn't kill me (I'm afraid of taking on more than I can handle).
    >> Anonymous 06/05/11(Sun)01:39 No.4554255
    >>4554232
You could make a batch system and work in increments. Open commissions, take a certain number of orders, and then close it down until you've finished and shipped all of it. After a few orders you should get the feel for how efficiently you can produce x amount of items in x time measurement, and then continue to take commissions accordingly.
    >> Anonymous 06/05/11(Sun)01:53 No.4554297
    >>4554255
I was thinking something along those lines. I've only taken a few commissions here and there for various things, and never actually had to deal with a large workload. I've also got a full time job and an on-going side project.
    >> Anonymous 06/05/11(Sun)01:58 No.4554312
    >>4554297
If you do open commissions, don't ever feel shy or guilty about shutting them down when you've had enough. No matter how large the demand is, life comes first and the only people who would begrudge you having higher priorities are fools.
