The costume's from taobao, and I didn't know they'd make it so short.. I'm hoping to straighten out the bottom so it at least looks less crumpled.

Th wig is far too full, though if you cut the bangs any more, they probably wont be long enough. Madoka doesnt have full bangs. The sides should also be thinned out. Perhaps try defining some spikes in the pigtails, as well?

As for makeup, keep it cute and minimal. use some black eyeliner on the top for definition, and some long lashes, preferably only demi lashed put on the end.

You need to take the bodice in. Especially around the waist.
Bangs... yeah, they need to look choppier, not so, straight line across. cut vertically into the fibers, not across.

The costume has a built in petticoat, but even with the extra one added, mine still looks flat... and if you do order it, expect it to be extremely short.

You need to fix the bodice, it looks baggy.
Fix the wig. Make the bangs choppy and style them so they can stay in sections like Madoka's.
Side bangs, trim them! They are too long and full.
Ponytails, trim them too, they are too full. Layer them and flip some stands out.

Well OP, personally I like really blunt bangs on any character with any bangs at all. Like Miku for example, I prefer straight bangs instead of her V cut.I say keep it like that, but if your're looking for accuracy listen to all the other anons~

There is definitely not enough petticoat there and the bodice is too baggy.

To make the bangs work you would have to thin them out then make them shaggier.

It makes me sad though that you didn't realize the costume itself looks bad on you from a construction standpoint. If you're going to buy rather than make at least be able to identify when something looks wrong.

They make them custom within 2 weeks, I used taobaospree as well, and from the time they placed the order, they got the package around 1.5 weeks later, then I got it in about 9 days, iirc.

I think the sleeves need to have more poof to them, a better petti, fix how baggy the bodice. And maybe add an extra ruffle on the sock to make it more poofy, and slighty make the bangs on the wig more choppy and shaggy.
I wouldn't do this all at once but one at time to see how it changes the costume.

I don't know if it's the bad wig cut, the lighting, or your age, (or a combination of the above), but you look far too old to be a wide-faced 14-year-old little girl who isn't even 4'11".

Like others have said, the skirt needs a lot more volume. I recommend wearing a short but poofy petticoat, like the Leg Avenue super-short chiffon one you can get for $16.

Remove the red ribbons from the wig. It's clear that the Taobao shop made the costume based on early concept drawings, not the final anime product.
You should thin down the pigtails while spiking them up a slight bit.

At least you bought a well-constructed costume instead of the cheapest satin one.

It's not the worse cosplay ever, and most of the opinions stated below are good, but I can't help but notice...you seriously need to wax your upper lip. I don't suggest shaving, but if you're afraid of waxing, try it.

A lot is the bad lighting in the first pic, as you can see in the smiling pic, looks a lot better.

The girls looking a little older then they should is something that I've come to accept when I started seeing cosplays from Japan, as a) The girls of Madoka (like most anime girls) don't look like real people at all. The girls have nice immature face...and well developed bodies, with maybe the exception of Homura and sort of Mami.

I also can't see most 14-16 year olds able to do a Madoka costume well due to the skill needed.

I had to comeback and add that the skirt is too short to have enough puff as Madoka's. Even with a better petticoat, the skirt will be too short and won't have the same shape.

Layer the bangs, please. They have too much volume for the character, and they don't have the sharpness and choppiness they should have. You can do this by taking a bit of the fibers between your fingers and making a "v" with them, then snip the ends at an angle with small scissors. Do this a couple layers at a time. It should help a lot. Also, as others have said, needs a lot more petti.

The pigtails look a bit high. Is it possible to move them down a bit? Also, get one of those beauty thinning razors and thin down the bangs a bit.
