Has someone you ever cosplayed with died? I'm going to a con next week, two years before I met a lovely girl named Ashlynn. As soon as I met Ash I knew she was different. she was fun, confident and I loved spending time with her.
A few months ago she died. It was one of the worst things I've ever gone through. I only saw her at the cons (although I talked to her almost everyday) and it made me very sad that i only actually saw her for two weekends. I know that the con that is next weekend is going to be tough. Hanging out with different friends at the same spots we used to hang out.

tl;dr - Have you lost someone you cosplay with

FAP to her pictures, collect your jizz in an empty sprite bottle and place it next to her grave.

    OMG I KNEW HER.

She was so nice, I wasn't exactly friends with her, just someone i'd see at cons and hangout for a while but she truly was a wonderful person...

I've lost someone I used to cosplay with, car accident. It's been over 3 years but I still get sad when I think about it/go to the cons.

    >expecting CGL to give you normal conversation.

Yeah I did. I had this guy who passed away in a car accident on a trip to his home country.

It was ironic because he used to cosplay Asuma.

I've never lost a cosplay buddy. There was this one girl I went to go see Howl's Moving Castle when it was in theaters with. She was friends with my friends. I remember thinking she was an extremely annoying weeaboo back then. I saw her again a few years later and she was really nice although I couldn't recognize her anymore because he style had changed so radically. A couple of months after that she died from a cocaine overdose or something. She was about 16-17? They said it was a concussion in the news.

That was the moment that I really understood how anyone can go at anytime.

I lost my DnD friend who was also a staple of our uni's RPG/SFF/Anime crowd. He was hit by a car and is braindead in a coma with no chance of recovery. He was a compsci genius, a total brat, and I miss his stupid guts. It'll be a while before I can play DnD without missing his insistence on an evil alignment fucking with everyone's plans. It's awful. I'm finishing up my semester with incompletes because it fucked me up so bad.
    *hug for OP*

I talked to a random cosplayer a few weeks before she died. I learned via the convention's facebook page.

I didn't know the girl, I don't even remember what she cosplayed but I still felt shocked and sad, of course. I can't imagine how her friends and family felt.

Never had that happen. Lost a 'friend' I played WoW with. Apperently he was murdered. I never found out if that was true or not..
    >> Anonymous 05/12/11(Thu)15:01 No.4457782
Never someone that I cosplayed with, but I did find out someone I did theatre with was murdered when I got home from a con.

A friend I did DnD with died from leukemia a few years back, right after my birthday.

You're just hearing the deaths. You're not seeing how many people have never experienced such a thing. I've never had anyone younger than 90 die around me, so...

No I never have, but hugs for you, OP :(

I recently lost someone dear to me about a month ago. Mason was our buddy that used to invite us over to his house and bring us into this cheap add-on room that was entirely devoted to his otakudom. Figures everywhere, manga volumes both in English and Japanese, you name it.

He had a modded PS2 that he used to play everything from Melty Blood to Japanese Mobile Suit crossover Gundam games. We'd spend hours playing anything from SFIV to Melty Blood, KoF, Guilty Gear, BlazBlue.

He was always severely underweight, the guy was 5'9 and 110 lbs. Often times he'd just say he was tired and he'd sleep in that day for like 12-14 hours. He'd also chug those energy drinks at GNC, redline and all that stuff. Like two in a day.

Eventually he stopped hanging out with us because he was just 'sick.' Never mentioned why. Then one morning he just didn't wake up.

I still don't really know why he died. I suspect he was hiding Leukemia or something like that from us, in retrospect. Should go without saying, but I miss him.

Not really cosplay related, but it was recent. I used to invite him to AX all the time, hahah
