    Pumpkin pants > Bloomers
    >> Anonymous 05/08/11(Sun)08:12 No.4438961
I've never thought of bloomers as being entirely necessary. I've never worn bloomers with my Lolita and it's not affected me in any way. I can see bloomers being useful for those gusts of wind that like to kick up skirts, but they're not a necessity.

Although an item all Lolitas MUST have is obviously a petticoat. Without poof, you are not a Lolita.

IIRC Bloomers were initially invented as practical undergarments for working women/adventurous little girls who wanted to preserve their modesty.

So if a lolita just wants to wear regular shorts, it's the safe diff right? Not really sure why I should spend $20+ on a pair of shorts no one will ever see just to be lolita.

If you're not gonna wear bloomers, at least wear something under there, like cute pajama shorts. I understand not wanting to pay through the nose for something people don't see, but consider this.

Seriously, no matter how long the skirt, petties and fluff make it easier to accidentally panty-shot. The wind, sitting... and even beyond that argument, when you sit down, your skirt tends to go straight back or settle up, and leave your bare ass sitting on whatever-it-is you sat on. It's uncomfortable.

I doubt anyone's gonna fault you. I think my favorite pair of bloomers I saw was made from Star Wars bedsheets. I see bloomers/shorts as sort of the "fun" bit because no one sees. I kinda wanna make a My Little Pony pair or something ridiculous.
    >> Anonymous 05/08/11(Sun)08:29 No.4438985
One of my petticoats is a monstrous squaredancing one that's one huge ginormous layer, so I never have to wear bloomers. Seriously, you look up there and all you see is petticoat.

I saw someone selling a MLP pair on LJ a while ago. If you want, I can send you a link?

    I fucking love bloomers.
I don't have to freak out whenever wind pulls up my skirt, I can safely sit on the ground and my butt is warm at all times. They're so much better at this than shorts.

It's also very cute and comfy home wear, although my bf finds it kinda unflattering.

Okie doke. Thats great to know! ^ ^

I wear my insanely bright yellow rilakkuma pajama shirts. xD Since I only wear dark colours and my petti is ridiculous, you cant even tell how obnoxious they are. ^ ^ Seeing this thread, made me think I was gonna be shunned again by loli's everywhere... But I'm glad to know I'm not gonna be eaten alive.

Why am I in Australia. I. I need them in my life. They need to be on my butt immediately.

    Thank you so much!

I don't wear bloomers because I havent had a chance to make any, but I've never had a problem without them.

But yes, definitely going to make a pair of flannel ones for once the weather gets cooler.

On the other hand, the thing I think is the most important to lolita is the right shoes. They don't necessarily have to be brand, they don't necessarily have to be tea parties or another "traditional" type of loli shoes, but you damn well better have some interesting shoes that go. Nothing kills an otherwise good coordinate to me than a shitty pair of ballet flats.

Haha, no problem! She also made a MLP skirt that isn't for sale because the lining is inside out, but I'm tempted to make an offer for it. That fabric is adorable.
    >> Anonymous 05/08/11(Sun)09:05 No.4439010
Petticoat. Goddamn it. So basic yet so lacking in beginners.
    >> Anonymous 05/08/11(Sun)09:15 No.4439021
I go on public transit a lot so there's many opportunities for upskirts (going up stairs, gusty subway winds, etc), so I feel better with bloomers on. But if you're just going around by car and meeting up to eat some food there's no need to wear them if you don't want.

I think all lolitas need cute legwear, as in tights or socks. I don't mind bare-legged lolita in summer but patterned tights or socks are just so cute <3
    >> Anonymous 05/08/11(Sun)09:30 No.4439027
Seriously, make an attempt to fix ones hair and put on *some* makeup. Why do some girls get so batshit insane when you tell them to do this? I don't care how much you whine about inner beauty and how we should judge you by your personality or whatever fucking excuse. If you're willing to spend 300 dollars on a dress for the sake of a fashion you can spend 5 minutes in the shower WASHING your hair, another 5 putting it up, then 5 minutes putting on some foundation and concealer to hide your zits and the bags under your eyes. It's not hard and doesn't take a long time, and it makes you look better?

    Petticoat
Seriously, You loose the whole Lolita silhouette without it. Even just a small one will give that little bit of poof you need
    >> Anonymous 05/08/11(Sun)14:59 No.4439664
I'd say a good solid black or white blouse (one of each would be ideal). Unless you intend to only wear OPs or always wear a cardigan, these are essential. Black and white are the 2 best colors because they can go with just about every coord.
    >> Anonymous 05/08/11(Sun)15:03 No.4439681
    I'm a loli and I don't see the point in bloomers. :/

Seriously, if the skirt is going to your knees/right above the knees like it's supposed to, then I don't see the point. (That doesn't mean I have something against lolis that wear them, but personally, I leave them out)

PS bloomers are not meant to be seen. FYI.

I used to think the same thing, and I went without for a while, but some pettis can be scratchy and uncomfortable to sit on. Bloomers solve that problem. Plus I think they're kind of adorable even if nobody's going to see them.
    >> Anonymous 05/08/11(Sun)15:07 No.4439705

Yeah I have seen some cute ones. Personally I think all long ones are ugly, though.

And my petticoat has lining so I don't have that problem >_>

Chiffon petticoats are the best. I would recommend them above all else. They're a bit expensive but they're SUPER soft and comfortable and won't go flat like tulle/organza petticoats.
    >> Gutsy !!Sa61yfyRMdC 05/08/11(Sun)15:23 No.4439756
    >>4439737
Yeah, my petti was thirty bucks so obviously it isn't high quality. It's hard to spend money on a really good petti when you have a small wardrobe and you just want to fill it up as fast as possible!
    >> Anonymous 05/08/11(Sun)15:27 No.4439777

Are the Classical Puppets petticoats made of chiffon?
